Thread: Looks like Torres is officially gone...

Damn...I thought this guy was a beast when I saw his high school film and was totally underrated coming out of high school. He is the exact type of player the Buffs needed...a smash mouth north-south runner that would take the team on his shoulders...kinda like a Peyton Hillis...I hope he keeps playing somewhere and gets a chance in the NFL as a tailback/fullback hybrid.

All I know is the time for change, is now. We shouldnt wait till the end of the season whether we beat Baylor or not. Let him finish the week and fire him and the staff. Like a few coaches like Cabral, Prince, and Ambrose. Rest, send there ass packing. Loved Hagan as a player but he has been disappointing as a coach. Hawk should go now, we cant coach a team with the 3 above. Although, they probably wouldnt do much worse than the current staff.

If you are JT do you want to stick around with this inept coaching? I am sure he may have personal circumstances that sent him on his way, but if I am JT I want off this sinking ship. The CU administration shows no willingness to do anything to support coaching changes. If I am JT I am not sticking around and listening to a coach that has no clue and blames everything on his players. I am sure seeing how he jobbed Hansen last week was the final data point he needed to know he needs something else.

Former CU quarterback Mike Moschetti, who was Torres’ coach at La Mirada (Calif.) High School, didn’t hide his disappointment over Torres’ decision.
Moschetti told the Times-Call that Torres “couldn’t handle it; he couldn’t handle being away from home.”
“I called (Torres’) dad, and his dad said he’s not coming back (to CU).”
Moschetti relayed that message to Hawkins and Hagan. Moschetti said Torres never talked to Hagan or Hawkins before leaving and hasn’t contacted them since. Moschetti said Torres won’t return his calls, either.
“What he did to coach Hawkins and Hagan and the rest of the football team in general is inexcusable,” Moschetti said. “Colorado is better off without him. You can’t count on someone like that.”
Moschetti said he has heard that Torres would like to play football at a junior college near his hometown.
Without Lockridge and Torres for the rest of the season, the Buffs are seeking depth behind starter Rodney Stewart.
That depth may come from Will Jefferson. The receiver has been moved to running back — a position he played in high school.

    Wow! Not good.

It's a little harsh but, they gave Torres a chance to play BCS football, the least he could do regardless of how inept of a coach Hawk, is return his calls and tell him himself. I don't blame Mike he went all out for this kid to get him to a BCS school and he made Mike look bad by leaving without saying a word.

For good reason. Moschetti goes out of his way to get the kid in at CU and this is how he gets treated? Torres won't even return his calls?

    That's some bull**** right there.

The kid just signed a few months ago. The inept coaching should not be a surprise to him.

I finally got some inside info which I won't share...but suffice to say that Torres turned out to be a big disappointment for Mike, especially how he handled his decision not to return and to not even have the guts to call and explain himself.

Also...this has nothing, zero, to do with Hawkins or Hagan. They both went out of their way to help him along. This is all on Torres, a kid that wanted to stay home.

So...we will leave it at that.

    Gateway,

Mike pretty much said it all in the Longmont Times Call this morning.

Moschetti told the Times-Call that Torres “couldn’t handle it; he couldn’t handle being away from home.”

Yeah...I saw that...as I said, he was being "gentle" in those comments.

What I don't understand is why a kid who seemed pretty happy and had a great future, would decide he was never coming back. leaving, i can understand, but to
lock the door behind you (and fail to talk with present or past
coaches) seems like there may have been something about CU or
Boulder that he didn't like also.

    All speculation.

and for a backfield, we start:
Marcus Houston, Daryll Scott, Justin Torres and Craig Ochs, not to
mention... Was hagan MH's coach too?

    Go Buffs
