Farrow rushed for over 1,100 yards and 15 touchdowns, making him the sophomore of the year in Texas 5A District 5 (near Irvine, I believe). He then had an injury-plagued junior year and it killed his recruiting.
So far as a senior in 2010, Farrow has returned to form. Through 7 games (4-3 record), he has rushed for 866 yards and 13 touchdowns and even thrown for 2 TDs. http://www.maxpreps.com/athletes/nEa...eth-farrow.htm
To describe his running style, the ESPN Evaluation did a very nice job:
Here are his sophomore highlights:Quick to the hole and flashes above average suddenness darting through the smaller seams. Gets downhill quickly and shows sharp cutback ability and adequate vision. Displays above average outside quickness and lateral agility on the zone stretch play. Can sidestep initial penetration but he is most productive when he plants his foot in the ground and gets North. Flashes good downhill burst and strength. Consistently barrels through initial contact and is very difficult to arm-tackle with his strong running base. Shows good leg drive and power through his hips and lower body pulling through tackles and bouncing off first contact. Runs with a purpose, can absorb a hit and keep his balance. Our main concern is that he shows a minimal extra gear when breaks free into the second level and top-end speed appears to be just adequate. Not very elusive when he gets in space and often misses the extra cut to spring long runs.
Farrow will be making an Official Visit to CU this weekend for the Baylor game. He talks about it in a Scout article:
Farrow explained that the Colorado coaching staff would like to add a bigger back like him to their rotation. He believes that a scholarship offer could be extended his way after they watch his game film this weekend.
“The coaches said that they could use a bigger back like me. I think they could offer me this weekend if we hit it off well and if they like my tapes.”
Aren't most of our guys around his size minus speedy? Just thought that was a little odd but whatever we can use all the help we can get.
so hate to say it, but this sort of annoys me...actually it really annoys me. If we get this kid, great. I like this kid, and he seems like a decent player.
...now why weren't we able to offer Brown a full scholarship? You want a physical back? Is Brown not big enough? ...
...
...I'm getting really annoyed with the recruiting right now. I was patient last year with lowered expectations, and although I can understand us not getting commitments, I can't understand the lack of visits and not offering Brown.
How come no one else but CSU offered Brown?
To be honest Brown's recruiting has been hurt by being injured and being on a bad team his jr. year.
I think that Brown is going to be a very good football player. I don't know if that means at RB in the PAC12. I would like to see the Buffs bring Brown in but he may end up at LB at CU.
I also can understand CU wanting to wait on Brown and give him more time to heal up the knee.
Farrow on the other hand looks a guy who will make or bread at RB. If Utah has offered then he is certainly worth a look, they have a pretty good track record for finding talent lately.
I wouldn't count on him if Utah is recruiting him as well.
Recruiting is going to suck until DII Danny is gone.
Scout has him listed as a Buff!!!
