Preseason article about Canevari's taking over at RB for Don Bosco for his senior year:

Warwick's Canevari runs with a tough crowd

"Paul has what it takes," said [CU runningback Tony Jones], who rushed for 1,387 yards and 36 touchdowns last fall. "Believe me, I know. We battled hard with each other in practice and became close friends. He just works so hard and he doesn't back down. Paul isn't afraid to get at it, and that's what you need."

Canevari, who grew up playing running back in youth leagues, saw time in the backfield last season, mainly in the second half, after Jones and Don Bosco had blown open a game. Don Bosco coach Greg Toal likes Canevari's speed, power and toughness, referring to him as "a freak athlete."

Article about Don Bosco's State Championship this season:

Warwick’s Paul Canevari leads Don Bosco to fifth straight Jersey state football title

Canevari, a running back, only recalls telling Sakowski that Don Bosco would win.

Whatever Canevari said, he backed it up. Canevari, a senior, rushed for 265 yards and five touchdowns on 35 carries on Saturday night at New Meadowlands Stadium to lead Don Bosco to a 37-27 win in the Non-Public Group 4 New Jersey state championship.

“I was just in a zone, I was on a mission,” said Canevari, who finishes the season with 1,758 yards and 32 touchdowns. He is being recruited by, among others, the University of Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Central Florida. “It was awesome to be able to have a game like that, to run like that. It’s a five-peat, there’s nothing better than that. We wanted to go out with a bang, and we did.”

Comments from the 3 services we follow:

    Rivals:
Strengths: Canevari is a powerful, low-to-the-ground runner who is an absolute bull to tackle. He shrugs off tackles and has to be tackled low or else he'll power through even bigger players. He has above average speed for a fullback prospect and he has reliable hands. He has good vision and knows where and when to cut. He's a north-south runner who doesn't dance.
Weaknesses: Canevari is a one-cut runner who doesn't have much wiggle in the open field. And while he has above-average speed for a fullback, he's probably just a tick too slow to be a feature back, which he prefers, at the next level. - M.F.

Scout: A tough inside runner with good hands out of the backfield.

ESPN: Canevari comes across as a tough kid who will battle

    Another Rivals article:

    Memorable season for Jersey back

"I'm being recruited as a running back, some schools as a fullback, and others as an athlete," said Canevari. "I'd prefer running back."

Highlights of the state championship game. Pretty much the Canevari show:

(And I'm not believing the reported "6 feet tall".)

Due to the friendship with Tony Jones and a relationship that Greg Brown has with a coaching staff member at Don Bosco Prep, donmac is saying over on Rivals that Canevari is in play for the Buffs.

If we're going to use a fullback and he agrees with playing that position, I'm all for signing him. Not as a RB, though.

He looks like he could be a beast as a FB with some more size. Doesn't remind me of Vickers or Drumm, but it would be nice to have a FB that could make the impact they did.

He looks like he could be used in a wildcat formation or triple option, but I guess that depends on Embree's offense.
