I hope Neu keeps his job for at least 2 more years.
I'm looking forward to being in both Pasadena and Boulder when Embree shakes Neuheisel's hand at the end of the game after kicking UCLA's ass![]()
Interesting Article on rivals regarding coaches on the Hot Seat. Rick Neuheisel is on the top of most lists. It appears that Rick's youthful charm is less in the forefront as he is not longer a "young coach". I actually thought he would do better at UCLA - maturity and experience giving him a better shot of being successful.
The guy seems lost now. He has had 3 top 15 recruiting classes according to Rivals so you would think the team has some talent.
The QB play under him is interesting. I remember him totally screwing up Hessler in 97. Seems like he has a knack for that.
Mark Richt seems to have lost his touch also. Too bad, I like Richt.
I hope Neu keeps his job for at least 2 more years.

"Most of the people I admire, they usually smell funny and don't get out much. It's true. Most of them are either dead or not feeling well." ...Tom Waits
Rick never changes, he is in love with QBs and WRs and DBs, he has always started out well using the past guys interior linemen but over time tends to ignore those areas and eventually his teams end up losing the line of scrimmage. He may be one of the best 7 on 7 coaches ever but when you realize that most of the great coaches all say the game is won on the line of scrimmage you see why Rick's teams eventually fail.
Post-Vince Dooley history says UGA isn't afraid to can Richt. Both Jim Donnan and Ray Goff before Richt had reasonably impressive winning % over 5+ years. but, lost to rivals and/or were bad in bowl games.
it remains to be seen that Ricky N. can produce a bigtime offense on his own. his two good CU teams, Mac's top 5 classes. his UW Rose Bowl team....Tuiosopo he inherits as well. and, as said before, the "up and coming/ahead of the curve" offensive mind thing ain't gonna work since Rick is a veteran coach by now.
skippy totally destroyed at least 2 qbs at ucla. the hessler thing was not just an incident-- it is a pattern.
he is a douche.
i hope he sticks around and our Buffs can kick the living **** out of him a few times.
Same old Ellen...all flash, no substance. I give himone more year. I especially liked his preseason statement he would be heartbroken if fUCLA did not win 8....I guess he's staying at Heartbreak Hotel for theoffseason. Anybody look at his commits? I haven't but I bet he's got three RB's, five WR's two QB's and one OL.....

So many issues at ucla...coordinators are all turning over, fans are in revolt, their two best players on defense (Ayers and Moore) just declared for the darft, they may switch from the pistol and have no offensive philosophy.
Ricky is a terribe football coach.
Be careful what you wish for. If I was the AD at UCLA, I'd take a long look at Bienemy after I fired Slick next season. Let's hope the real AD doesn't have the balls to hire EB after what will likely be only a mediocre season in Boulder.
When you reach the bottom line
The only thing to do is climb
Pick yourself up of the floor
Don`t know what you`re waiting for
How do we turn this to our advantage during this recruiting cycle?
This is the one school that worries me the most about losing EB to since he has worked there before. I just hope that if Rick tanks and gets the boot next year, that they will look for somebody else since EB will only have 1 yr of OC experience. I would rather see EB get tabbed as an NFL OC if we are going to have to lose him which I think we will within 3-4 yrs. As long as we don't lose him to a program in the Pac south though, I would be fine with it.
In the 3 previous years he has actually recruited some highly ranked OL and DL players but their numbers are out of proportion with the positions that you mention. I do not know how any of them pan out but they did recruit them. The big thing IMO is that he is a QB coach and cannot develop even a passable QB.
I did not think he would go down in flames this bad.
