Yeah. As long as he's got enough burst and short area quickness to get around the corner in front of a tailback for a kickout block or seal, I don't care about his top end speed. He does need to be able to get there, though.

Gus has good speed to the point of attack and his quickness routinely gets him to the LB level on FB blasts.

Judging that his older brother is a 6'4" D1 pitcher for the UNC Bears, I am betting this young hoss has some room to grow. CU would be nuts not to check him out.

    Answer here

(Forgot how to do a spoiler tag. Remind me sometime.)

But THIS free SCOUT STORY is good too, if you read down a couple paragraphs, when he's talking about the coolest part of the combine. Fifth paragraph.

Was trying to remember who else from Monarch had gone to Colorado.

Of course. John Torp, CU Buff, runner-up for the Ray Guy top collegiate punter award (and briefly NFL Punter for the Vikings) is also a Monarch graduate.

    Torp at Colorado:

Nope. Knew I had read it somewhere recently, how convenient it would be my own post.

Gus (great name) is also a standout on the lacrosse field playing long pole. Quick and effective in another contact sport--football, wrestling and lacrosse! Buffs need to look here for the future.

Thanks for the info. I really like guys that play several sports and are all-around athletes. Hopefully Gus camps at CU this summer to get firmly on the staff's radar.

Gus had 83 yards on 11 carries and 20 yards on 1 reception in a 21 - 7 win at Greeley West. He was huge blocking, there had to be a few LBs with head aches after the game.

Is he part of one of those weird legacies with CSU and Mohi?
