"Fame can come in a moment, but greatness comes with longevity."
-Bill McCartney
Originally committed to Iowa. Did not have a qualifying test score and he also broke his fibula in November. Both of these things factored into him being majorly under-rated by the services versus the offer list he had. Just got himself qualified at the end of March.
There was a nice write-up on him on the Rivals network following his Iowa commitment:
[High School Coach CLAUDE] MATHIS: Well, Austin has something I call swagger, which is what I love about him. He's very confident in his demeanor. He runs great routes and he's a great deep ball threat because he can go up and get the ball. He has good speed, good hands, and is really dedicated. He gave up basketball and is focused just on football, and he's gotten a lot bigger, faster, and stronger this off-season. I commend him on that because he's worked really hard.As a junior, Vincent caught 17 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns as part of a DeSoto receiving corps that includes a couple of other Division I recruits. In April, he attended the Fort Worth Nike Camp where he turned in a 4.6 forty, a 4.2 shuttle, and a 32" vertical.
From the ESPN write-up:
He possesses good hands and concentration as a pass receiver. He extends away from his frame for the grab on the move increasing his transitional quickness upfield. Is precise in his steps and is a savvy route runner; shows good sideline awareness, the ability to find the soft spots in zone coverage and comes back to the ball. Shows some fluidity through the hips and can be a smooth athlete when stemming DB's and working to get open. While he is slippery to bring down after the catch with his quick hips, stop-start cutting ability and overall movement skills, Vincent lacks top-end speed and will struggle separating from elite level cornerbacks.
Ya that '11 WR out of Cali never ended up visiting...

AZ's site has a title that says "Buffs add '11 WR." Commit?
Looks on the video like he runs some routes and makes some adjustments, not just a straight line guy using speed to get open. could be a good late get.
So ESPN says he's got good hands, while scout says his hands are an area for improvement. Clear as mud.![]()
It doesn't matter - he's ours, and we love him.![]()
We thought about it for a long time, "Endeavor to persevere." And when we had thought about it long enough, we declared war on the Union. - Lone Watie, The Outlaw Josey Wales
Could be the GET of the class. Position of need and a solid offer list. Iowa doesn't make too many personnel reaches and sounds like Kennedy is tight with an Iowa coach. This isn't a complete under the radar guy. Legit offers and played big boy prep football. Can compete for PT ASAP.
