Newport Harbor is the high school of our long snapper, Ryan Iverson, who is now on scholarship after winning the job last year.
http://theocnow.com/2011/03/28/newpo...football-game/Norton earned the Daily Pilot Newport-Mesa Dream Team Player of the Year and Sunset League Defensive Back of the Year honors after leading the Sailors (6-5, 3-2 in league) to a third-place finish in league and the program’s second straight CIF Southern Section Pac-5 Division playoff appearance.
Norton, who started at cornerback, wide receiver and returned punts and kickoffs, will be a preferred walk-on player at Colorado.
The following is pretty much a "must read" if you really want to get to know this kid. Incredible work ethic. Wants it. Winner. Type of guy who makes your program better from a culture perspective even if he never ends up making plays on gameday. (But I wouldn't count him out.) He'll come in and first try to make it as a slot WR.
Newport Harbor High senior Parker Norton trains with two 50-pound railroad ties as he runs up a Back Bay hill while wearing a 15-pound vest.

Tough kid, glad to have him. Welcome Parker!
Leach: Do you want to fight a buffalo? I don't know, those buffalo are big. You know, buffalo are significantly bigger than elk. I grew up near Yellowstone so I've been near buffalo. Buffalo are huge. And then the other thing I've always gotten a kick out of: When you play Colorado, there's those buffalo dragging those six handler around. Those handlers aren't dragging the buffalo. The buffalo's dragging him.

Exactly what we need in the program. If he ends up making the team, I could see him becoming a team captain by his senior year.
Said Deehan: "I've got to say the biggest difference is Malcolm in the weight room. . . we're a lot stronger where we need to be. We're no longer just big, fat power-lifters."
Great work ethic. This is the kind of kid that can come in and really push his teammates to be better.
