I have yet to see that we've offered, but both Rivals and Scout have us interested in him. With his talent level, I have to imagine that we have offered, but haven't seen confirmation anywhere. Because he's a top 100 guy, I threw a profile together just in case.
He is ranked #5 in the state by Cali High Sports.
However, they don't list CU as a school that he is considering. Usually they're very good with the California prospects, but this is a profile from June 13th. They're in the process of re-doing their countdown of the top players and are currently on #9, Richard Longrus.
That would be Austin Rivers, a top 5 member of the class of 2011 that Johnson is dunking on.
MaxPreps/CBSSports has him as the #64 recruit in the nation.
Rivals now showing the CU offer and the 9/16 visit date.
Every day just brings more good news for the program. Caruso, Johnson, Hield, Sanders, Wallace, Hairston...if 2 of these guys sign, we're about to see a major infusion of talent! I really like Johnson though. He looks like the most athletic of the bunch and could be the type of finisher who would really excel in a running offense. Pair him with one of the shooters in Caruso, Hield, or Sanders, and I really don't care who gets the 5th schollie, or if that's held for '13.
SIXTH schollie. With Cain deciding to not play, that opens up a sixth slot for us to use this year. Now we won't use all 6 this year (barring Shabazz Muhammad and Kyle Anderson wanting to pair up at the Foam Dome), but that does give us a little more flexibility.
As for Johnson, everyone here knows my crush on Caruso. And honestly, I think I would probably take Alex over Johnson right now, but it's a hell of a lot closer than you would think. Johnson has the highest ceiling of any of these guys IMO.

Right...I'm kind of assuming that 5 would be the max though. A 6-man class just gets too big, and one of those top-100 recruits will end up getting squeezed out of the rotation, in all likelihood. With the talent interested this year, though, I do like having an extra schollie to work with. If we "only" land 2 of the remaining recruits, it's not a bad thing to end up with two players next year, either.

For anyone that's a Scout subscriber. Here's a highlight reel of 2012 wing Xavier Johnson ...http://scouthoops.scout.com/2/1106259.html
I wonder if our NBA friend can get honored during the CSU game too :)
