Thread: Why I am tired of the talk of Utah as a Rival.

  1. #1

Why I am tired of the talk of Utah as a Rival.

People have been trying to manufacture Utah as a rival and there is just no way I can buy into that.

A rival is a team that you measure yourself by. Just like Duke and UNC in BB, ND and USC in FB, OU and UT, etc. And Utah will never be a school or program that I will measure CU against.

What set this off is something that has been bugging me for awhile. If you go back and look at Utahs recruiting over the past several years - they are signing more Jucos than KSU usually does. This year is no different - they signed 7 Jucos. I never measured CU against KSU and I am not going to start with Utah in the PAC 12.

Yeah, we don't really have a rival atm. Kinda sucks, but it's true. Maybe something will develop with one of the pac 12 schools, but you can't manufacture a rivalry.

didn't KSU have over 10 wins this season?

I hate USC a lot. Like as much as Nebraska or Texas.

I don't measure ourselves against CSU, but there's little doubt that CSU is a rival.

    Just sayin'.

When they cost a quality post season bowl (whoever they is), or best us year over year over year, then we will have a rival.

Kinda like how we beat them to take away the south title?

They dont like us, at all. From what I heard the fans in Utah were nasty, and very angry once they lost to us. A rivalry is brewing, you may not like it, but broken hearts and shattered dreams will build one very fast.

But CSU measures themselves with us.

Not from my standpoint. I don't measure CU football by CSU standards. CSU is not our rival...we may be theirs. I do not get excited by beating CSU.

I get excited by beating the #1 team in the nation 62-36. I get excited by coming back to score 4 touchdowns in the 4th quarter to beat a hated rival and then play for the MNC.

The most fun i think i'll get out of this relationship is winning when we're coming off our worst stint in my lifetime and them coming off their best stint in history... even at 2-10, CU got the win. I can't help but think when the talent is accumulated that Utah will be our Pac 12 CSU.

you know, a certain team that also left the big 12 the same time as us could--and do--say the same thing as you just did in your post if one were to take the "S" out of CSU.

Playing CSU is a lot like having your prostate checked. You're not happy while the exam is going on. There are only two results that will come out of the checkup, one is horrible and the other result doesn't make you happy, just relieved.

I'm never happy when we beat CSU, just relieved. And when we lose to them I feel like the whole year is shot.

USC is the measuring stick for all in the PAC 12 to measure themselves by, this will be the annual game that I will look forward to the most, when we beat them we will know that we really have a special team that given year...
