They cheat.... at least in basketball. If it isn't outright cheating, they operate very deep in the 'gray' area of college recruiting
This year, they had a good FB team and the Heisman winner.
BB is top-notch: men and women's
I think they have other succesful teams
And all this is happening in Waco
Seriously, how can this be? are they paying people off? is it an excellent academic school?
within 3 years, we should be kicking thier ass in FB and BB

"Right now Alec Burks is using and abusing this Texas defense"
I don't want to make accusations.
I'll just say that they don't have as good tradition in any of these sports as other Big 12 programs, they hadn't had as much recent success in any of these sports as other Big 12 programs, and they don't have nearly as good facilities or fan support as other programs in the Big 12.
Draw your own conclusions.

AllBuffs: Where the stereotype of 'Boulder Elitists' is met and then some
They took a chance on hiring coaches who were on the verge of making huge names for themselves and became an alternative choice for recruits in a 200-mile radius of talent rich areas to go and be somebody instead of get buried on the depth chart somewhere else. And these gambles started working out, and now they're becoming every bit in the conversation for more elite players as the schools they were previously just getting castoffs from.
So I think the coaching is getting overlooked because everyone who's not Baylor is explaining it with "cheating." But I also think by the end of this decade we'll know a lot more about what's been going on at those programs there, and a lot of it's not gonna be good.
Roughly 9 years ago Baylor was synonymous with Dave Bliss, Patrick Dennehy, awful football and a couple of immature baseball players who I think found a stray cat and skinned it. Really a mess of an athletic department.
Fast forward to today when the big 3 programs on campus have all risen to national prominence at least for the time being. All with great coaches who can recruit, but like any programs showing a metoric rise to success something's bound to come out from a former player or booster about some Josh Luchs-type stuff, maybe not a whole lot that gets real due process but the school will start to self-report and the media will start slapping asterisks on seasons and we'll all be left saying "Oh, that's how they did it." I don't think Baylor's a true Death Penalty headcase waiting to be unraveled, but like Billy Donovan when the rumors of cheating follow you around for as long as they have, you can't help but sit and wait for everything you've heard rumored about Scott Drew to come to light in an official capacity.
I thought it was because they have such good attorneys representing them....
