We return 3 OL starters, 1 WR who started last year, our RB started a few games. Not a lot on offense. QB will either be Wood (a soph who started in the Army AA game a few years ago) or Webb (a transfer from Kansas who has started for 2 years).

Defensively, we return a starter at DT, 1 at DE, all 3 LBs, 1 CB and 2 safeties. All of our specialists also return from last year.

fwiw, Pete Thomas was the only reason last year's game wasn't a blowout for CU. Maybe it was the best game he played all year, considering that CSU fans don't like him, but he was thought of highly enough to have BCS transfer options. I doubt that would be the case with his replacement.

We have as many offensive weapons as CSU (sans Nwoke, but anyone can breakout at RB) and a much better defense. Our crap DL has two players in Pericak and Diribe that are better than anyone CSU has on the DL.

You guys will be good in 2-3 years as Embree is good at recruiting, but not this year. Definitely a rebuilding year.
We have returning starters. Our OL is our most veteran position, have two seniors starting on the DL (Pericak and CUD), our youngest LB will likely be a junior, a junior and a senior starting at safety, to name a few. Our secondary will be young, but I'm not worried one bit about them against CSU.

I actually liked what I saw out of Grayson against TCU - but he will need to take that step forward in his development if CSU hopes to beat CU.

I think you should be significantly concerned about your defensive coaching staff. It is not good. And who knows how good McElwhine is at coaching offense? This isn't Bama where he has 5* players at every position and a smothering defense. He didn't show much in the realm of creativity in that role. How will the offensive playcalling be improved over Fairchild?

Plus "20 returning starters" doesn't mean they're any good. 3 straight 3-9 years with those guys with garbage schedules isn't a good thing. Even Hawk's crap players were on the bowl bubble a couple seasons the last game of teh season, and against a much more difficult schedule

they have 20 guys returning from a terrible team, who got crushed at Invesco, by a CU who might have been less talented team than we have this year.

yeah this is going to be a cakewalk for you guys.

This has all the makings of a pillow fight.

No matter which team walks off of the field with a victory, the true losers in this battle of underachieving cripples are those members of the college football viewing audience who might be expecting to be entertained by an awesome specticle of well disciplined athletic showmanship.

The message boards after the game very likely will include the term "ugly win" for somebody.

I would be for a halftime arm wrestling match between coach sparkles and emburrito to help up the anti.

It's pretty cool to see that CSU fans are drinking the koolaid and will bring some swagger going into opening day.

We CU fans are expecting...no, make that demanding a full undressing of our poorer and less talented little brothers to the north.

Colorado football is not a matter of life and death; it's more important than that.

Yeah. CU will have "announced" of at least 25k just from the season ticket holders. With the students, we'll sell 30k or so tickets for the game.

I hope they don't move a bunch of us to the other side again this year to make the stadium look more full.

I'm curious, too. I know next to nothing about CSU's team. IIRC, they have a pretty good RB and their punter looked great against us last year.

QB-Toss up. Maybe Grayson due to experience although minimal
    RB- Nwoke>anyone we have
    WR- Both units are crap
TE- Probably CSU, although stats are skewed due to check-down Thomas
    OL-CU. CSU's OL is crap
    DL-CU, although young
LB- Easily CU. our best unit by far
CB- Not sure, although we played hot garbage here last year in the RMS and CSU didn't get a 1st down for 2 quarters
S- CU. Ray Polk and Orms>>>> CSU
P-Kontodiakos will get to punt a lot and is actually good
K-Oliver. Does CSU even have a kicker?
