We've got pretty good representation in the Olympics.

That will only go up in years to come with Pac-12 competition and emphasis on Olympic sports.

    I hope you are right.
For 2012 CU's women middle and long distance are CU's strong suit. Props to Heather Burroughs and Mark Wetmore for making CUs women competive.

CU men's running representation in the distance is disappointing in this cycle. Other than Dathan in the Men's Marathon CU's men are going to be spectators. Oregon and Nike pretty much stripped Boulder as the nation's distance running incubator. I would challenge CU to reclaim some of Boulder's men's middle and long distance past glory.

Where USC, Stanford, Cal and our conference mates shine are in sports CU doesn't even offer. Swimming, water polo, divijg, gymnastics, and softball stand out. They also are effectively attracting foreign competitors.

It would be hard to picture CU making ground against our peers in any swimming, diving, or pool based sport. I also don't foresee much Olympic calibre competition in gymnastics, rowing, or beach volleyball in CU's long term future.

I can see some opportunity with cycling (mountain and road) and triathlon. It would be refreshing if CU could be an incubator at the club or even varsity level with pedal sports.

The winter Olympics. Now that's another story...

Skid, speaking of cycling, I really wish that would become an NCAA sport. Triathlon, too. CU could be winning national championships in a hurry.
