Another Hagan prospect visiting this weekend for Texas A&M.

Not a lot of information on him and I couldn't find a video. His 4.62 is legit (run at the Nike Combine in LA), so decent speed for a wideout and definitely faster than Simas or McKnight. Also a pretty good vertical at 33 inches. I'm efforting, but haven't been able to find any video.

Re: '10 CA WR Donnie Duncan

Someone at Rivals found a YouTube video.

Duncan is the real deal! I am very excited about him now. This guy is a playmaker. I liked him on defense, too.

Edit: Conflicting reports on whether he is a commit. Officially he's still looking around so we'll call him a strong CU lean at this point.

Looks like a playmaker. Seemed like more of a DB prospect from that video, more defensive highlights than offensive highlights. He definitely has a knack for finding the ball and reading plays.

I don't know. Rivals has him as "Athlete" not wide receiver.

adam said most likely wr. not a burner, but could definitely provide with some quality depth.

From the Rivals article, it sounds like Duncan is a playmaker who could help us in a lot of different ways:

Duncan has caught six touchdowns, returned two kicks for a score, thrown two touchdowns passes and returned two interceptions for a touchdown this season while helping Hamilton to a 7-2 record.

Scout still doesn't have Duncan in its database despite an article they ran in June stating that Donnie was impressive in the morning session of the Rising Stars Camp at USC. He went there as a WR.

he looks a lot faster than his 4.6 speed but we need a good return man. Any word if he was recruited as a WR or a DB?

Re: '10 CA WR Donnie Duncan (Committed to Colorado)

this recruiting article about the USC camp is really encouraging, because honestly, I wasn't too excited about some of our recent commits. Some of them are great, but others weren't exciting me with their stats or list of other offers. Take this into consideration with Hawk's need to show us all more talent development, I wasn't jumping for joyover some of these guys Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they're choosing to become Buffs, but 4.6 and 33 inch vert for a Big12 WR? Hopefully that translates really well on the field, because I did that in HS (in bball shorts of course though, not with football pads)...and no, I was definitely NOT anywhere close to a Big12 athlete. Hopefully we get a new WR coach, as well as a new S&C person to bring out the best in these kids.

Re: '10 CA WR Donnie Duncan (Committed to Colorado)

He's supposed to get a shot at WR.

Also, remember that the 4.6 was an electronic time. That's plenty fast and he's likely faster than a lot of guys with reported 4.4s or 4.5s. What really jumped out to me, though, is his jumping ability.

Isn't Ambrose supposed to be taking over the WR Coach duties next season?

Yep, I read that somewhere, can't remember where though. It was already confirmed that Ambrose would be the WR coach starting in 2010.

Re: '10 CA WR Donnie Duncan (Committed to Colorado)

That's the plan. However, Brown being more active recently in the game coordination has led to some internet posts that Ambrose has been working with the DBs again and speculation about what that could mean for the 2010 staff configuration.

Officially, Ambrose is the WR coach in waiting. And, btw, he's from New Orleans and proved himself to be an aggressive recruiter during the spring period. So read into that what you will about who's really been working the phones on all of the Louisiana prospects we're in on this year.

Re: '10 CA WR Donnie Duncan (Committed to Colorado)

He can't engage in off campus recruiting. My understanding is he can work the phones, send mail & texts, and host visitors on the CU campus.

Back in the spring, we briefly put him on the staff after Helfrich left and before Foster arrived so that we would have our full complement of off campus recruiters during that recruiting period.

Re: '10 CA WR Donnie Duncan (Committed to Colorado)

Makes more sense for Ambrose to be a DB coach and his ties to Louisiana would be great to add another "hotbed".

Not sure what rumors you are referring to, but I would rather have Brown as our DC (much better X's and O's guy than Collins, IMO) and leave the recruiting up to the position coaches that have proven they can bring in top-quality guys (Bandison, Cabral, and hopefully Ambrose).

Re: '10 CA WR Donnie Duncan (Committed to Colorado)

I don't think Bandison has proven a thing yet. Kasa and Nuckols were the only high gets in my opinion, and Martin this year seems more attracted to Hawk than anything. I would really like to get rid of Bandison, amongst others.

Re: '10 CA WR Donnie Duncan (Committed to Colorado)

FWIW, Bandison got quite a bit of help on the 2009 class (Kasa, West, Bonsu, Nuckols). In no way should he be kept on staff for his recruiting.
