Jordan James ready to blow up

Corona (Calif.) is one of the hidden gems out West and annually puts out two or three high Division I prospects each year. Last year's top player was offensive lineman Max Tuioti-Mariner, who despite missing his entire senior year with a torn ACL is starting at right guard for Colorado in this his true freshman season.

According to Panthers head coach John Brandom, the school has another player in the junior class who he expects to be the same instant impact player as Tuioti-Mariner.

ESPNU 150 Watch List running back Jordan James earned all-state underclass honors as a sophomore after rushing for 1,406 yards and 15 touchdowns, and he's started fast this year as well.

    James favors three
California is loaded with running backs next year and one player who has seen his stock soar in recent weeks is Corona's (Calif.) Jordon James. The running back said three schools stand out right now.

James only played in five games last season but was leading the state in rushing at the time with 1,135 yards and 11 touchdowns. He's an explosive back and one of the true home run hitters in the entire country.

Oregon and Cal recently offered scholarships joining early offers from Stanford, Duke, Colorado and Arizona.

"Right now, my top three are Colorado, Arizona and Cal," James said. "I'm going to camp with Colorado and I also plan to take my official visits during the football season.

"I'm not sure if I'll take all five but I know I want to visit those three schools for sure. Right now, I'm just working out like crazy and trying to get my speed back. I'm doing a lot of agility work, plyometrics and some weight training as well."

Academically, James is carrying a 3.6 GPA and will attend the SoCal NIKE Camp in April.

Has an offer from Florida now. Really hope Hagan can reel him in, he might be a top 50 recruit when it is all said and done.

I really like how our RB recruiting is coming along. We seem to be adding a lot of depth and talent to the position. If we can manage to get a 4* or better in each of the next two classes, we'll be in excellent shape for several years to come.

Agreed. Think we'll take at least two RBs in this class, hopefully at least one of the guys we sign is a blue chip. I think we have a good shot at the elite talent is So Cal (at all positions).

I like our RB roster too, but it's kind of a funny comment after a cycle in which we signed no RBs.

Not surprising given what we have on the roster right now. I'd be surprised if a blue chip RB would want to come into a situation where he's got so many guys in front of him. Any time you have 5-6 RB's on your team, you're in good shape at the position. Stewart, Sumler, Scott, Lockridge and Moyd is a good rotation. Any one of those guys can do the job. I think I'd still like to have Polk in that group, but I'll defer to the coaches.

I find it interesting that in nearly every interview he lists his top 3 as Colorado, Arizona, and Cal...with us in front (usually they go in alphabetical order).

Re: '10 CA RB Jordan James

I'm with you on this. I don't make a habit of second guessing the guys that are paid to do the job, but a guy who comes in as a 4* back (one of the top rated in the country) should have the opportunity to strut his stuff. Are Moyd, Nabors, Lockridge and Sumler really better than Polk? And from what I hear the Buffs don't seem to be desperate for help in the secondary.

I do think the timing is good to add another marquee back or two. They'd be coming in as freshmen when Speedy and Scott are juniors.

He is a must get. Last summer during my freshman orientation I saw the entire Corona football team in Chey-Ho with Riddle and Collins close by. Good to get him and a talented out of state football team on campus:thumbsup: I hope he liked it.

Re: '10 CA RB Jordan James

Um, we haven't been a winning football team the past few years. Let alone a top team. So it's kinda hard to pull in good recruits. Some kids just want to go to a school that they think they can win a National Championship at. Some can see past that. Like D. Scott, he thinks he can win one here. I hope he is right. In a year or two in might be possible. Hopefully we are on the up.

Thanks Captain Obvious, but we haven't lost any more football games in the last few weeks. We were mentioned in his top teams up until very recently so I am wondering what changed.

He will be in Boulder for a camp with the rest of his team this summer. Hopefully we make a strong impression to get in his top group.
