The class of 2010 is shaping up to be a spectacular class, with dozens of guards that are already showing that they are sure-fire future D1 ballers. Alex Dragicevich is not usually mentioned with the “elite” guards in the class, but not for long, as the 6-4 shooting guard has been playing spectacular basketball for Glenbrook North of late.

GBN started off the season in a big way; going 3-0 and winning the Niles West thanksgiving tournament, defeating Corliss, Palatine, and Lake Forest in the championship game. Dragicevich won tournament MVP honors, averaging 20 points per game for the tournament.

With a name like that, coming from Illinois, the guy should run for governor and see if he can sell a Senate seat or two. I hear there's good money in it.

no offense, that is really skinny man - great evaluation in that other thread by the way.

The kid seems fine right now, but once again, we have the 2-3 spot fine...we need some bigs that can do some dirty work and are fundamentally sound.

I want to say Glenbrook is a great HS (Eddie Curry may have come from there), and the entire Chicago/greater Chicago area HS bball is one of the best in the nation. If he commits, fine, but I just think our focus needs to be some bigs and a point. We seem to have the wings covered. Sure, I think our schollie situation is fine for us to take a guy at 2-3, but without personally being a scout, he just doesn't sound like that amazing of a player.

Scout.com lists Alex's interest in CU and Utah as "High".

Not getting much love from him in the 6/29 Rivals interview. Sounds like a Utah lean.

I didn't really get the feeling that he was a Ute lean in that interview. It seems like he's impressed with them just because that's his top offer. He said his top priorities are playing time and proximity to his home. CU would be the best fit in both areas.

I also think the fact that he's unofficially visited Utah plays into his comments. I hope he visits CU soon. I heard he broke his finger recently. Hopefully that will give him a chance to visit Boulder.

I hope you're right. I was reading up on him on a Miami (OH) message board where they are following him closely. One of the last posts was that he broke his finger and, for the most part, will have to miss out on the July evaluation period. This should help CU by possibly keeping schools like Michigan, Indiana and Illinois away.

Here's what ChicagoHoops.com had to say about him after the 2009 Nike Spring Showdown at the end of April (Dragicevich was on their list of stock risers): "We all know that he can really shoot it. Dragicevich continues to impress me with his tenacity, mental toughness, and the way that he continues to improve aspects of his game."

They also had him at 6'7".

The Miami-Ohio board is where I've heard about his finger being broke.

I'm not sure what happened with Michigan. They used to be on top and I figured they would've offered by now. Did they get another commit? Something happened there because he barely mentions them now.

    Dragicevich sidelined with broken finger

July 2, 2009 BY GEORGE M. WILCOX -- PIONEER PRESS

Glenbrook North senior guard Alex Dragicevich will have surgery today to repair a broken finger in his left hand.

Dragicevich, the Pioneer Press North Stars player of the year and a member of the Chicago Sun-Times all-area team, suffered the injury June 23 while playing with the Spartans in the Moody Bible Shootout in Chicago.

The timing of the injury could have been better. The 6-foot-6 Division I prospect will miss the first three weeks of the July evaluation period. Dragicevich, who averaged 20 points and five rebounds last season for the CSL champions, plays AAU basketball for the Lake Forest-based Full Package 17-U Elite team and hopes to return for the Adidas Super 64 tournament July 22-26 in Las Vegas, Nev.

"I think you'll see that it will not affect my high school season," Dragicevich said. "I think there will be plenty of time for (college) coaches to watch me in tournaments, which will be in the second half of July. I'm working on my speed and quickness now."

Dragicevich will have two screws inserted into his left ring finger to help the healing. The surgery was delayed until today based on the availability of his doctor. He suffered the injury when he was pushed from behind by an opponent on a fast-break basket and broke his finger while bracing his fall.

Glenbrook North reached the semifinals at the Moody Bible Shootout.

"Just by the way we played, we've had a successful summer," Dragicevich said.
