Doherty and the Klein Bearkats continue in the playoffs this week.
They meet South Garland on Friday, 11/27.

It's the Houston Chronicle Game of the Week, and Doherty is mentioned as a player to watch.

Ronnie Doherty's team, the Klein Bearkats, lost in the Class 5A Division II state semifinal against the Abilene Eagles this weekend. (Trivia: Oddly enough, the Eagles' punter is named Goodman.)

The Eagles held on for a 29-21 victory and their first berth in the state finals since 1956. Abilene High will take on two-time defending Division II state champion Katy, at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Abilene High's Josh Jones (3), Klein defensive back Jonathan Family and place kicker Ron Doherty (4) dive for the ball after it was deflected on a punt. The Eagles Sawyer Tallant (2) dove into the pile and pushed the ball out of Doherty's hands where it was recovered by Abilene. The Eagles won Saturday's Class 5A Division II semifinal game Dec. 12, 2009, defeating the Bearkats 29-21.

    Update:
Ronnie Doherty is filling the spot at KU that Justin Castor willingly gave up to come to Colorado.

(Castor, as you may recall, was recruited by Kansas in the fall of 2009, after they offered but failed to secure the services of Zach Grossnickle - who they offered in the fall of 2008.)

According to one of his kicking coaches, Doherty has accepted a preferred walk-on spot as a placekicker for the Jayhawks in the fall of 2010.
