Maxpreps had some decent info on Lucien:

    Maxpreps Link

    Junior: 46 receptions, 702 yards, 15.26 YPC, 10 TDs

Lemming Notes: This school has a good number of potential Division I players in the senior class but Devin looks like the real deal in the junior class. On Film–As a sophomore he came ready to play every game, shows the ability to stretch a defense, and was particularly good in the red zone. He has very good hands, can leap over people, and surprises them with his deceptive speed. He had a terrific game against Notre Dame High. Stats–Caught 23 passes for close to 500 yds and 11 TDs averaging 20 yds per catch as a sophomore. Other Sports–He's been timed in an 11.3 100 meters in track.

Lucien mentions CU among his schools of interest, but his top 3 is really Stanford, Cal and Oregon. None of them have offered, though, so if his list doesn't change it looks like it will come down to CU and Illinois. If that happens, I like our odds. Definitely a Pac-12 guy.

There had been some recent stuff that made me think it didn't look good for us with Lucien. But Cali High Sports came out with an article today that should have everyone excited.:

October 05, 2010 PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: KENNY STENHOUSE AND DEVIN LUCIEN

Cali High also ranked Lucien as the #23 player in the state heading into this season:

    .

Just a question for someone who might know, does he like a lot of HS players also play some defense. I am not suggesting that he should be looked at as anything other than a WR but with a small class coming in the more versitility we can get the better. Also if he plays D that might mean that he can contribute early on coverage teams as well, another area that we could use improvement.

Not that I've seen. Scout doesn't even list CB as an alternate position and they usually do if the guy plays both ways. Pure WR here.

Devin is visiting this weekend for Texas Tech.

I don't know who to credit for the info. AZ had it as premium scoop and when I checked Scout it was listed in the free profile. Not sure which was posted first.

Regardless, this is a big visit for CU. We need young WRs and Lucien is one of the better ones in California. If we don't sign him, someone in the Pac-12 will and we're going to have to face him.

    Be a Buff, Devin!

Lucien has moved his CU official visit to Iowa State weekend (Nov 13th). He hasn't taken his SAT/ACT and it is an NCAA requirement that a prospect has taken that test before going on officials. Looks like he will first visit ASU on Oct. 30th when they host Wazzou.

I apologize for being slow for sharing scoop, but we got some decent information on Devin Lucien over the weekend.

First, he got the UCLA offer that those of us who had following his recruiting were worried about. Going to be tough to beat that.

    But...

Someone who identified him/herself as being close to Devin joined us in AllBuffs chat. Information checked out as credible. Based on that conversation, we can report that what had been written about Devin's standardized test situation was incorrect. He has taken the ACT/SAT and he will be a full qualifier. Also, he is very high on CU. We would have a good chance for his services, but the hiccup is the coaching situation.

Basically, Devin and those close to him are concerned that if he committed to Hawkins that the new coach might not treat him as one of his guys. That this could effect Devin's playing time and how much love he was given by the new staff. With the turn of events Monday and Tuesday this week, being a Hawkins commit is no longer a concern.

There is nothing definitive yet on whether Devin will still visit this weekend. I'll throw this out there in case those close to him are reading the board. I have talked to some people who follow CU and/or recruiting very closely about Devin's situation. To be clear, no one connected with CU in any official capacity. Without exception, their opinions were that with the current depth chart (not a lot of WRs on the roster other than next year's seniors) and everything else that CU has going for it (Pac-12, academics, top 20 in all-time wins, 4 division titles in 5 years immediately before the Hawkins mistake, etc., etc.)... that CU would probably be a nice fit for Devin. However, they all advised to wait and see if he connects with the new coach and then take the visit to him and make the commitment to him (if he wants to commit to CU). Little doubt that CU needs a playmaker like Devin and the scholarship will be there, so it's best to play it safe and wait.

Frankly, I also agree with that advice. It's one thing for the legacies or in-state guys who have committed to the university (not Hawkins) because they are lifelong Buff fans. For them, Hawkins getting fired is a win-win. They still get their CU dream, but they get a better coach. Hell, just about every coach since 1910 has won at around a 60% clip or better at CU (only 3 guys with losing records), so it's not like it's hard to win here. Next coach will likely win and win quickly. But it still doesn't hurt to wait before visiting and committing. The player and his family/coach/advisors need to feel a connection with the man who will be his head coach these next 4 or 5 years.

And... I am really hoping that once the smoke clears Devin decide to be a Buff. He's got a chance to be a special player.

good double post nik. would rep but the gleeb gun is dry. Hope to see Lucien here. Hell, even a visit would be anything but a bad idea.

Fixed the double post. I had to ask the Admins to disable the double-post prevention for me in the recruiting forum (made it hard to make a series of posts when building a profile thread).

Anyway, I can also see the argument for Lucien or other top recruiting targets of CU making a visit despite the coaching uncertainty. They can still tour the campus, see facilities, meet with professors and academic advisors, spend some time with players, etc. Then, they can wait until the next head coach follows up with calls/texts/emails and an in-home before deciding whether to commit. As always, the key for CU is getting people to come for a visit, see how spectacular a place it is, and just get blown away.

    Too bad he's not visiting.

I like how he catches the ball with his hands and away from the body. Also, good body control, seems like a reasonably strong runner after the catch, and is certainly athletic.

By the way, any info on that teams qb? Dude could chuck the rock!

Lucien was upgraded to a 4* prospect on Rivals and moved up to the #28 WR (from #47).

Here is a new Rivals article: http://colorado.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1152869

It's worth a full read, but here's a snippet that is probably of most interest to AllBuff members:

Kenny Stenhouse. Putting up big numbers but doesn't appear to be a D1 prospect.

His stock is blowing up. Just received an offer from Michigan and is approaching double-digit BCS offers.

The last two weeks on the field can't hurt. The recievers are all getting balls thrown to them and the team looks like it is having fun. If Lucien is in contact with the current players he can't help but to be getting a positive vibe about what is going on.

Arizona State remains the only trip that Lucien has taken. Huge for the new staff to get him to CU as soon as possible for a visit.

Going toe to toe with the big boys over a prospect intrigued by colorado purely because we are colorado. Sounds like a good chance for Embrrrito....
