Re: '11 CO WR Rayshon Williams

    Thanks, supaphish.

Williams is the best WR prospect to come out of Colorado in a long time. Big target. Pretty good speed. Great bloodlines (Brandon Marshall's his uncle). Hopefully he's working out with Marshall in the offseason, because he doesn't get a ton of opportunities to catch the ball in Mullen's offense. I trust that Logan knows how to coach up a WR, though.

Just getting a quick profile on him up since I didn't see one yet.

Rayshon is Brandon Marshall's cousin, originally from PA but moved in with #15 after Marshall took guardianship of him to get him out of a bad neighborhood. There was a nice article in the Post a few days ago:

    http://www.denverpost.com/premium/broncos/ci_13871084

4 TD's in Mullen's playoff quarterfinal game, not bad - he had 1 receiving, 2 rushing, and 1 punt return TD and returned two punts for 60+ yards.

hopefully Marshall gets a contract from the Broncos and Williams goes to CU so he can stay close by.

And CU has now offered a scholarship. This will be a tough one to land.

I'm thinking zero chance unless Brandon Marshall signs a long-term deal with the Broncos.

Small chance (25% or less) if the Donks do their part.

No inside info, just my impression from reading the boards and not even having an interview with Rayshon to go on... so a complete guess. If someone's got any inside (or even 2nd hand) info, I'm sure everyone would be interested. I know I would be.

According to the Scout/Prep Colorado site, Rayshon enjoyed his summer in Florida so much, he's decided to move there for his senior year.

He is no longer an in-state recruit, he will be attending St. Thomas Aquinas High School in
Fort Lauderdale. This is a blow to Mullen as they attempt to "threepeat" the state championship, although they usually recover quickly from any personnel changes.

Link (premium) PrepColorado has learned - and Southwest recruiting analyst Jason Jewell has confirmed - that talented 2011 receiver/return man Rayshon Williams will not play this upcoming season for Denver Mullen High School.

His uncle, former Bronco Brandon Marshall, (remember him?) is now a Miami Dolphin.

St. Thomas Aquinas is a powerhouse program. Hope he does well there. He could get looks from many schools if he does well. He was always a longshot to come to Boulder anyway.

Yes. He can pick some decent schools, Rayshon can.

Considering the level of competition, I would say two state titles in Colorado are not equal to one in Florida. I don't know what level Aquinas plays at in Fla. but the level of competition down there is serious. They put out a lot of good football players. Seems like there are some individual Fla schools that put out as many legit D-1 prospects as the state of Colorado does.

St. Thomas Aquinas was on ESPN several times the last few years. It's got to be a top-10 type program. Don Bosco (where Jones played) in NJ was on a lot as well. Wish I would have paid attention to their RB.

This kid wasn't coming to CU so I'm actually kind of glad he's not around. Would have given the press one more thing to complain about. We had a zero chance once Uncle PrimaDonna moved on to Miami.

I'll be very interested to see where this kid ends up, and how long he stays there.

The comp doesnt get much, if any, higher than St. Thomas. I know they were hs national champs year before last and Ive seen them on tv several times the last couple of days on classic. These games were from last year and they were #1 in the country at that time, dont know if they ended up there or not? If Rayshon was looking for more comp, Id say he probably found it. Hope he does well.

Anybody surprised by all this? Shouldn't be. Good luck to him. I can't imagine that I'd want somebody who would run out on his teammates in the 11th hour before his senior year on our squad anyhow.

There was never a big risk of that happening.

We had an outside shot if Brandon Marshall had gotten a long-term contract. But Williams always had his eye out of state and didn't care all that much for the state of Colorado.

I'm not down on him for transferring, though. How could I blame him for sticking with his uncle and all the opportunities that Brandon is providing for him? Best of luck to Rayshon. I think he's going to be a nice player for someone.

Rayshon decided to stay at Mullen for his senior year. I've edited his profile back.

He changed his mind about going to St. Thomas Aquinas HS in Ft. Lauderdale, FL right before classes started.

Who knows, maybe this means that CU wouldn't be completely out of the running for his signature? (My guess is UCF, though.)
