'11 DC CB Sherrard Harrington (Signed to Colorado)

Great Q&A with Harrington:
http://colorado.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1189858
What was the determining factor in your decision to pick Colorado?

Sherrard Harrington: "Playing time and coaching experience were the main determining factors for me. I felt that Coach Embree and his staff had a great, great resume when it comes to NFL and college experience. That was the key for me in choosing a college. They were just off the charts. Their whole staff is impressive. I am eager to be involved with that. I am anxious to play in their system."

That Rivals article is incredible, folks.

What an amazing young man we have with Harrington. His father died in the past year, his brother is in jail, he's had other tragedies in his life... but he was able to graduate early, stay away from trouble, and has been going to the gym all day 6 days a week except Sunday (day off for rest and prayer).

And gets up at 630 and goes to the pool then works out again later in the day, goes to boxing to improve his hands, and then study the playbook at 1030. Great kid and sure has his head on straight.

Our last coach liked to run his mouth about getting the right kind of kids and doing things the right way.

The more I see of this class it looks like JE and staff have already done a much better job at this than we have had the last few years.

I see commits with offers from schools with high academic expectations like the Air Force, Wake Forest, etc. I see guys who have their academics together to the point that they are graduating from HS mid-year. I see guys who draw raves from their communities for the quality of their character.

Then I see a guy like this one who comes out of an area that is known for academic failures and guys screwing up their lives and instead he just keeps showing that he is dedicated and focused on creating opportunities and making the best of them.

These are the kind of guys who you count on when a game is close. Pressure doesn't bother them because they have put themselves under pressure on a regular basis then overcome it.

Welcome to the Buffs Sherrard, we are glad to have you here.

Rivals still has him as a 3-star CB, but he shows up on Allbuffs as a 5-star recruiter. Nice work!

Big sign that last years class is in tune with and believes in Embree and the staff. When you have your current players bought in to a point that they want to bring their friends into the program and the friends are quoting attitude comments it means that the mental questions are being answered.

I knew when I heard about existing/recurring hip issue from pre-CU days that this was going to be an uphill battle during his career for SH. Hope he can eventually have an impact but sounds doubtful.
