Tulsa was Doolittle's first offer, but Colorado is his 2nd (and first BCS offer). He'll probably visit us and seemed pretty excited about the offer. He wants to play WR, which we're offering. Says he'll take his time before committing. He's likely holding out for an offer from hometown OSU.

Be a really nice pickup as a slot WR and return man. Check out the Edmond team highlight video from last season. Doolittle (#1) has a couple sick returns on there:

Looks like we do have a visitor this weekend. (And maybe one other.)

The other visitor was Kevin Pierre-Louis, a safety from Del Rio, TX. Sorry for not responding, taekwondo.

Regarding Doolittle's visit, it went well. Buffs are in the lead. He didn't verbal, though.

Between his rivals picture and espn picture...something seems a little different. I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe a different haircut?

I can't believe it took until now for someone to notice that.

fwiw, the Rivals pic is the correct one. I don't know who the emo kid on ESPN is.

(Rep to you for being the first to notice.)

I've seen him play. Decent qb (doubtful to see him play qb on a BCS level), good athlete. Would be a great addition as a DB.

Thanks for the info. From watching film on him, Doolittle just seems like one of those athletes who you just find a position for and get on the field. Kind of like Moten (another converted QB), who I can't wait to see competing at cornerback this spring.

From what I've seen, it may be an easy transition to wr/slot for him. Seems to have reasonably good hands, good acceleration, and makes plays in space.

I think the coaches at Edmond Memorial have already moved him to WR. I know for a fact he has switched back and forth between QB and WR as EMHS has felt the need. He'd be a good get, especially with the way this recruiting class will likely go. Only hope is that he grows a little taller and he could really be good.

CU remains the only official visit that Doolittle has taken.

Is the current staff after him or did they withdraw?

I haven't seen anything. Doesn't look like he's at the top of the new staff's list.

Found a little video interview with Kameron - nothing new ... it's from November.
When asked where he has college offers, he mentioned Colorado first.

I feel like we are backing off all these receivers we were talking to earlier in january. Lucien a silent commit?

I think the staff feels very confident on Lucien (and they should), but there is no indication that the new staff was ever interested in Doolittle.

Interesting look at the situation that kids can end up in with the recruiting wars.

From the outside it looks like Kameron is good enough to play at the mid-major level but not considered a BCS level prospect. Had Hawkins not gone after him would more of the mid-major schools have given him a better look. In the end with Hawkins getting fired and the Tulsa staff getting the door he got left out of the loop for the mid-majors and ends up at an FCS school.

I am glad that Embree is going after BCS level players and was willing to make the hard decisions for the good of the team but I also feel for guys like Doolittle who get caught in the middle of it. I hope he gets a chance to shine where he goes.

Doolittle is a decent player who has room to develop, so this is prolly a good move for him. He just might have better options a couple of years from now.

NEO has placed some players in D1. One, a 205lb TE, wanted to go play for the boomers, but they weren't interested. He ended up at NEO, then transferred to the U. Name was Jeremy Shockey.

I think Abe Wright was at NEO before he became a Buff.

Scobey, from KState/NFL, also went to NEO. Joe Vaughan, of Kansas (all big 12), did as well. It used to be a great place for talent to hide.

Have things changed? NEO was a place that the Barnett staff visited on occasion. Can't imagine they've gone downhill that quick.

    What's your take?

It's not what it was back in the day (late nineties, early 2000s). It has been turned into a program that has turned out excellent players for local schools like SWOSU, NSU, and SNU after it had been a beautiful resource for Big XII schools. It still gets an occasional big-time talent that didn't qualify (Donovan Dan, a wide receiver from Del City (also where Scobey and Vaughn went) is one of them.), but it isn't what it once was. It may be partially because Mid-Del football, where they had and have an excellent pipeline, went from pumping out excellent d1 talent year-after-year to a district pumping out the best players at local schools, with the regular d1 player or two. They went 3-6 this season. I don't have insight into the program or coaches moreso than an occasional statement from former players. What do you think?

I don't know. Your assessment is prolly as good an explanation as any. I checked NEO's official site and it looks like they've only got one assistant who will be new next year, so there's some continuity in the staff.

I suppose that I hope our staff doesn't burn any bridges. The future may return to what the past was -- a time when NEO would send a couple of players a year to D1 schools. Most on this site will remember a guy name Abe Wright, former NEO player who became a Buff.

Probably not a "hotbed" for talent, but a location that could provide the occasional jc prospect.

Did you read the thread? Embree didn't recruit him. We had him if we had decided to close.
