Texas class 4A All-District last year. Another late addition to the 2011 class?

Older brother Jeramy played for Rice at RB.

Couldn't find much on him. Looks like teams stayed away because of his size, listed at 5'7" 160 as a senior. Played the slot reciever, RB (4.8ypc) and returned kicks where he had at least one return for a TD of 85 yards.

I hope so. In the area he played on a team that won a lot of games I can't imagine that he got overlooked by the major schools. Let him come in and prove that he can contribute despite his size, if so give him a scholly.

I added in his Rivals profile, an additional photo, and his measurables to the profile.

He's cousins with ex-Buff great Michael Lewis (current player for St. Louis Rams who also went to Lamar Consolidated H.S.) as well as cousins with James and Jacquizz Rodgers, who have done so well at Oregon State and both played for Lamar. Jacquizz was freshman of the year in the Pac-10 in 2008, 2nd in conference rushing in 2009 (Best passed him due to an injury) and was a finalist for the Maxwell and Doak awards as a senior - rushing for over 1,000 yards each of his 3 season and catching 151 passes. Quizz was selected in the 5th round by the Atlanta Falcons. James is a senior WR at OSU and was 1st team All Pac-10 as a kick returner last year.

Similar type of player. Quick, fast and just a solid football player. Will likely get his first shot like B-Lock did working out of the slot and at TB, but he's got potential to move to CB.

This gives us another pipeline into Texas (this time the Houston area) and repairs a relationship with Lewis that was damaged when the Rodgers brothers were rejected by the Hawkins regime. Important upgrade to team speed, too, which is a priority. I like this addition for a number of reasons.

Welcome to the Buffs, Mr. Goodson!

Nik, do you know if we gave him a scholarship or if he's coming as a PWO?

    Scholarship.

And I need to give a shout out to SDBuff on Rivals who broke the story. He told me Monday that we had a visitor on Thursday (under-sized RB from the Houston area with dreads that EB likes a lot). We couldn't figure out the guy, though, and didn't have the info. He wanted me to keep it off the boards until he had firm confirmation.

Also, AZ was able to get the confirmation first and come up with the name. He also uncovered the connection to Lewis and the Rodgers brothers.

Pretty much everyone was working overtime and scrambling on this one.

Was size the only issue for other teams shying away? I don't understand why Rice wouldn't offer.

Goodson (#3) was named 1st Team All-District (4A) and was also the "Utility Player of the Year" for the district. All-around athlete who played RB, WR, DB, returned kicks, and even played some QB.

    Seriously?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Lewis_(safety)

Lewis twice won Colorado's Dave Jones Award for the most outstanding defensive player and the Hale Irwin Award for the most outstanding defensive back in his junior and senior seasons. As a junior, he made a career-high 117 tackles on his way to first-team All-Big 12 Conference honors. As a senior, he was a unanimous All-Big 12 Conference first-team choice, earned third team All-America honors, and was a semi-finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, given to the nation's top defensive back. He led the team with 112 tackles and five interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. He closed his career ranked 9th on the school's all-time list with 336 tackles, second in forced fumbles with 10 and tied for 12th with nine interceptions. He also holds the school record with 6.5 career sacks for a defensive back.

Wow. I've been a Buff fan since I can remember - back to the Eddie Crowder days - and honestly this one escapes me. I remember a lot of great CU dbs but not this one. No excuses... I must be losing it.

That same site is also quoted in the Houston Chronicle. However, I'd say he's 5'6.5" 165. HS measurables are always inflated unless they attended a respected camp.

In any event, welcome aboard. If he can approach the explosiveness that his cousins showed at Oregon State, then we got ourselves a gamer.

I had repressed the memory of Hawkins & Co. passing on the Rodgers brothers.

I don't care if the Ht. and Wt.are a little inflated. Just so long as that 4.4 is accurate. Speed, baby!

    Welcome to the Buffs!

If I remember correctly he also went an entire NFL season for Philly without a missed tackle. When he got his hands on you the play was over!! He wore #31 while at CU.

Helfrich wasn't high on them. He and Hawkins decided to pass. They wanted to come here and Lewis was pushing hard. There was chatter and some accusations that Hawkins being uncomfortable with ties to CU's past played a role, but who knows. They were ours if we wanted them, though.

Micheal Lewis big hitting safety, very very good player here at CU. Undersized LB early in his career that moved to safety.
