Guy definitely has the size....but there has to be some reason why we are the only team that offered him a scholarship (and I hope that reason isn't because he's related to Koy Detmer)

There is a big difference between not having other offers and not reporting other offers. The services only report what gets reported to them. If this kid was set on a certain school or couple of schools he may simply not have wanted to deal with the services and not given them info.

This is very true....have a cousin that already signed with UTEP a few months back and had offers to other BCS schools to play basketball and doesn't even have a Rivals/Scout page

So really depends on how much you want to live up that kind of stuff

Just found some info that Stevie broke uncle Ty's passing yardage record for San Antonio preps.

Here are Stevie's high school stats:

Stats
Passing
Year PA PC Pct Yds TD Int
2010 (Sr.) 312 189 60.6 3,291 40 10
2009 (Jr.) 318 190 59.8 2,827 28 12
2008 (So.) 302 176 58.3 2,507 24 14

is he a big mobile PF or Center? how could you not get him to CU.

Seems odd that you wouldn't report other offers, if I was trying to land a football scholarship I would want to be seen as someone in demand. In any case the staff must think he's got greater potential than Berglund or Sherry so I'm excited to see the kid at CU.

Between Burnette and Dorman, CU may have to relinquish it's hold as the worldwide leader in passes batted down at the LOS....

I just told my wife about this commitment and she reminded me that I know one of the Detmers (and she's good friends). Phil Detmer graduated from UNLV with her. He is cousins with Koy and Ty. Really good guy. Sister and wife are really nice, too. Good family.

Is there any info on if he LDS? Koy and Ty are/were.

If so, will he be going on a mission? I don't remember Koy going on one.

For this kid, do we really need "TX" in the thread title? Stevie Joe. Where else could he possibly be from? The only thing better would be if his name was Stevie Ray. Regardless, I now gloss Stevie Joe as "Voodoo Child" (and yes, I know that is Jimi Hendrix's song, but SRV's version is better).

Welcome to the Black and Gold, Voodoo Child!

While the national recruiting sites haven't given Dorman the ratings we'd expect from a Buff recruit, TexasFootball.com rates his as the #5 QB from the Lonestar state this cycle:

http://www.texasfootball.com/qbs-7/

#1 David Ash (Texas)
#2 Russell Bellomy (Purdue)
#3 Michael Brewer (Texas Tech)
#4 Michael Cummings (Kansas)
#5 Stevie Joe Dorman (Colorado)
#6 Dexter Foreman (uncommitted - CU interest)
#7 Daxx Garmon (Arizona)
#8 Jonovan Griffin (Oklahoma State)
#9 Cooper Jones (North Texas)
#10 Chuckie Keeton (Utah State)
#11 Bram Kohlhausen (Houston)
#12 Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M)
#13 James Mauro (Western Kentucky)
#14 Michael Means (uncommitted)
#15 Paul Millard (West Virginia)
#16 Ryan Polite (Texas-San Antonio)
#17 Deauntre Smiley (uncommitted)

looks like brock is going to have some comp at kansas

Actually, the list is alphabetical. I didn't realize at first because I knew the kid listed 1st had committed to Texas. I wish I hadn't spent the time adding the #s in front of the names.

Anyway, that's a sick Top 20 for one state.

Meisler with a good piece on Dorman. Interesting that Sonny Detmer (grandpa & hs coach) doesn't give info to the scouting services. No wonder Stevie doesn't have a rating.

And how great is it that the DP's CSU reporter is a CU grad & fan who writes Buff articles every chance she gets? (If I have that right. :wink2:)
