Obviously some talent on that team. Seth Jacobs is a very nice OLB/S prospect.

There is a BCS-level QB on the team as well.

Just got rated as a 4* on ESPN.

Weinreich is a very competitive guy with the nasty finishing approach we look for when evaluating offensive linemen; demonstrates the explosion and playing strength necessary to control and dominate opponents. Has the size and athleticism for the offensive tackle position at the major level of competition. His frame appears capable of handling additional body mass over time. Playing out of a two and three point stance we see good hip and ankle flexibility; his quickness getting to linebackers along with his agility and balance allow him to be productive and play on his feet in space. We see him come off the ball low and hard with good initial quickness, fit and pad level; gets into defenders quickly with the hip roll, blocking base and leg drive required to knock opponents off the line of scrimmage. Does an excellent job when asked to pull and trap; gets out of his stance quickly, moving along the line while gaining an inside out advantage when kicking out defenders; his quickness gets him to the edge and up the field where he displays very good explosiveness at the final point of attack. This prospect possesses the athleticism to gain an advantage when reach blocking; we see the ability to consistently get hat on active 1st and 2nd level defenders; has the physical tools necessary to make all the run blocks at the next level. His long arms, quick hands and nimble feet should be assets in pass protection; sets quickly on or off the line showing the ability to bend and slide his feet. Can play stout against the power rush showing good initial punch and location; works to keep his hands inside the frame. We see very good long range potential. Although Weinreich has excellent size and athleticism we don't see an immediate starter at the BCS level of play. However if a red shirt year isn't deemed necessary he could provide immediate depth along the offensive line while polishing his skills.

Committed to Oregon State on his official this weekend. SOB. Oregon State is grabbing a bunch of guys I really like on the OL. I played football under their OL Coach Mike Cavanaugh. One of the best OL coaches out there so it isn't really a surprise, just sucks that we aren't getting these kids. I wanted Weinreich and Gavin Andrews. Both big powerful guards that could have helped us in the run game.

Should not be losing guys to Oregon State. Goes without saying we've got a ton of work to do to get OL up to par in this class..

I'll rephrase that: If we can't beat out Oregon State for most kids that are considering both CU and OSU, then we will never get close to where we want to be.

That's not to suggest I'm hitting the panic button over this one kid by any means, but if this turned into a trend...

Oregon State isn't exactly a bunch of worldbeaters themselves. They're traditionally one of the worst programs in college football, finally brought themselves a slight amount of respect by having a little run of 7 win seasons and making some Emerald Bowls, and have now fallen back into being a sub.500 loser program. It's fine to have that viewpoint that we shouldn't beat them out, but then don't expect CU to be remotely competitive in the Pac12

im not saying we shouldnt... im just playing devils advocate here... theyve had more success than we have recently... why shouldnt they be expected to beat us out...

ive been thinking about this for a while...We(allbuffs.com) have a chance to reshape CU's image to recruits... the recruits check this place out... their parents check this place out... we in theory have a hand in shaping CU's image and maybe we should look at ways to do it...im not saying we would have a huge hand in it... but we could absolutely be a part of it...just something to chew on...

All very true, but all we can really do is continue to be supportive of the Buffs even when the football team struggles, and keep 'tini [marginally] under control

Been great having the perspective of moett and Ann Henry

Do I really need to list the differences here?

We should not lose recruits to Oregon State. I get that within the old Pac-10 footprint they're a much more known entity. I also have a lot of respect for Mike Riley. Kids will get good coaching there and it's a good environment for college.

But they've also hit their ceiling. Sustained success is not attainable there. They're a program that will beat some people they shouldn't, make a bowl game about two-thirds of the time, and maybe see the Top 25 once or twice during a recruit's time there. While that's better than we have been lately, the sky is the limit at CU.

Not only is a CU education better and more valuable and Boulder the best college town in maybe the nation, but this is a program that has shown it can be among the elites for a sustained period of time. There's a chance to be part of something incredible here, just like Embree helped get it started the last time and Bieniemy took us to the top. And while the late 80s and the 1990s may seem like ancient history to a lot of recruits, for their advisors (parents, coaches, teachers, pastors, etc.) it wasn't that long ago.

    Awesome OL recruiting is awesome.

Seriously BCS? OSU is the ISU of the P10, we should always beat them out for recruits along with WSU. I'd add Arizona to that list most years too.

The only thing I can think of is the kids jived with Mike Cavanaugh. As I used to play for him, I think certain kids (blue collar grinders) will probably love him. He's got an Eastern Connecticut twang in his voice, and he's all of 5'7" but the guy dips tobacco, spits in a cup, and is a damn good OL coach who's put many kids in the league. He's tougher than nails and i'm sure a few of the kids might really hit it off with him.

I don't expect to lose very many recruiting battles to OSU, but they've proven to be very solid finding good offensive/defensive linemen over the past few seasons.

my point is that they have had more success than us recently... why do you expect us to beat them out because right now... WE are the isu of the pac-12 and we (allbuffs.com) can be part of turning it around

How about the coaches do something for a change?

    Radical concept alert!

The coaches never have to do anything, we as fans just have to get better! Woot!

I see that you only have 500 posts so you might not have figured this out yet. Your post is full of realistic firsthand knowledge and experience, that is not how we do things here. Look around some more and come back with a post about how Marshall should be fired and you will be better recieved.
