Scout reporting a CU offer, but they're the only site that has it. Rivals doesn't even list CU interest. From the Rivals photos, it looks like he's got the frame to put on a ton of weight.

Arm length and strength are concerns. Quick feet though.

Needs some technique work, too. Plays a bit high and with his feet too close together. I like his hand placement, that he punches and controls, has good feet, plays through the whistle, has a frame to get a lot bigger, and that he seems to really have an understanding of what he's trying to accomplish on a given play. Definitely a player that can be developed and be a good lineman at this level. It will be interesting to watch what progress he makes between his junior and senior film.

Agreed to all. Great red or greyshirt candidate. I like his athleticism. Definitely can move to the 2d level quickly. If he keeps that foot speed as he fills out, he could turn into a damn fine guard in a scheme that uses pulling etc.

Not a verbal that wows me, but I guess I will have to trust the coaches on this one. I just hope it is not a sign of things to come for OL recruiting.

I share bb's concerns, but I'm glad we got the ball rolling on the ol at least. As far as low rated prospects go, I think this is a good one, and I mean that as a compliment

First off, the Army offer says that he shouldn't have any trouble qualifying and getting admitted, or handling the academic load when here. The 2* unrated likely means that he just hasn't been evaluated yet so it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

One of the things I have noticed about a lot of the guys that we are recruiting this year is that they are physically young, by that I mean kids that don't have to shave a lot yet. What this means is that they still have some physical maturing to do and have room to get bigger, stronger, faster (without going the Barry Bonds route to do it.) Does this mean that they will mature into bigger, stronger, players? No, but it means they have a good chance compared to a guy who comes in as a 6'1" 205lb LB with a full beard and four years later is a 6'1" 215lb LB who could never develop physically to the next level.

This kid looks to have good mobility, both laterally and vertically. He plays a little upright which is very common for HS kids who are big enough to dominate the guys they play against even with bad technique, that is a pretty coachable trait though.

It will be very interesting to see how he develops his sr. season and what other schools try to come in on him.

    Welcome aboard Gerrard.

Question for those who follow closer, was he at one of the CU camps or did our coaches see him at somebody elses camp? Seems like this offer came kind of out of the blue.

Did not camp at CU. Connection is through Jered Bell, who went to Pomona. Coaches must have really liked him, because they put EB on him.

I love the way mtn puts a massively positive spin on anything recruiting related. I love your optimism, dude.

I actually agree with you on this one, though. This kid looks pretty young, give him some time in the weight room and he could be pretty solid. Still, it is what it is. He has 1 offer from Army. Lets not act like walk is going to be jumping for joy on this one.

And not massively positive spin. The kid has academic qualifications and is very young maturitywise. As I stated in the post it doesn't guarantee anything down the road. The kid has the potential for a lot of upside but potential means he hasn't done it yet. That is why I stated that it will be interesting to see how he develops as a senior and to see who else comes in on him. If we get to December and we don't have some significant programs trying to take him off our commit list then we could have some problems. The question is are we the first in on a kid who is going to develop into something special or are we the first in on a kid who really isn't anything special and is more of an army or a low D1 prospect. We can guess all we want but only time will tell.

I'm certainly not going to sit here and do a Walk and try to see how many ways I can hammer on a kid. Until the prove otherwise (like the prior staff did) I'm going to figure that the coaches have at least an idea of what they are doing or they wouldn't get paid to do it.

True, massively positive spin was going too far.

That's how I feel as well. I'm not going to punish the current staff just because it turned out the previous staff was clueless. And with that said, I have to say, the previous staff did seem to have a knack for finding solid under the radar olinemen.

I think it will truly be interesting to see where some of our recruits end up ranked after their senior season. I think he could be a massive late-bloomer.

He could be a great blocking TE, if he keeps his weight down. Apart from that looks like a developmental guy, becoming a starter is all up to him.

late bloomer; diamond in the rough; under the radar; hidden gem; will blow up in his senior season; untapped talent; can be taught; under-marketed; trust our staff; wait until he hits the weight room; soon will be discovered; a sleeper; able to leap tall buildings in a single bound

There may have been a number of similar comments when Baktari committed to the Buffs. If the staff likes this guy, then I'm good with it.

Welcome to the Black-n-Gold, young man.
