McDondle had a big junior year and is probably the top RB in the state for 2012. He led Columbine to an 8-0 start before they were taken out by Mullen last year. In the process, McDondle filled up the stat sheet:

    2010 Stats
    Yards: 1,583
    Avg: 8.60
    TDs: 25

He needs to be a bit faster and i am interested how he would do in a non columbine offense. What are the chances he gets an offer?

RB is the one position where I think we will compete at a national level for an elite guy. This guy won't get an offer if he's not elite. I haven't seen him or the film, but if he "needs to be a bit faster", then there are no chances of a CU offer.

He is game fast if that makes sense. His 40 times are not very impressive they are solid but are not above above average. He is more 5 foot 8 than 5 foot 10 but he is a lot of fun to watch trust me. I got to many Columbine football games. Maybe can fit as a prefered walk on, but he is getting a good look by the coaching staff.

Game fast makes plenty of sense, ask Jerry Rice. I dont know about a ship but he would be an asset in some way.

McDondle has been avoiding the recruiting sites and hasn't done any self-promotion. People rave about Coach Lowry at Columbine, though, and how he does a great job of reaching out to colleges. I think this is a case where we simply won't be getting much, if any, information.

Well I go to columbine and know both of the Mcdondles pretty well. It was kind of a stupid question to ask cause I pretty much know whats going on. Cameron will go the JUCO route I am sure. Bernard is one of the fastest kids I have ever seen. His speed is up there with speedy. But yes they are playing Fairview tonight I am just about to leave for it. Bernard could be a good possibility for the class of 14.

Looks like both brothers tore it up in the playoffs and led Columbine to a state title. Even if Cameron looks to be headed the juco route, seems odd that he's seemingly getting no interest from college programs. Does Columbine just have a really effective system? Is it a lack of top end speed?

What's amazing to me about Columbine is that Andy Lowry has never been offered a college coaching job. Not a head coaching job, but man, he'd probably be a lights out assistant. The guy has won a boatload of state titles and hasn't had the advantages of Dave Logan.

Well, knowing the system well it is a bit of both. They do run the ball a lot you do see a ton of big time stats similar to the Broncos lately and them having huge numbers in the rushing game. That said you would think defenses would be able to key in since they are going to run it every time. It is successful because no one knows where the ball is. It may be to the wing back the full back and there are so many different formations even with the defense loading the box. Cameron has not in my opinion put himself out there enough to other colleges outside of Colorado. I am sure CU, CSU, UNC etc are aware of him because he is right here, but he is not even rated by Scout or rivals and has no highlight videos.
I mean how many times does a kid run for 2300 yards and average ten yards a carry and not get looks. Many question him on his speed and in all the games I have seen, he has never ever been caught from behind. If you watch the state game replay in the fourth quarter you will see his power between the tackles and stiff arms a guy and runs away for the basically the game clinching touchdown. I kind of rambled on there, so I am not even sure I answered your question entirely. Bernard willl be one to look for with his speed and vision and he is only a sophmore. Their older brother who played with Spond is playing a JUCO in California and is looking to transfer to a D1 school here soon I believe.

Thanks. Will be interesting to see how things play out for both brothers. With Bernard only being a sophomore, he might end up being a big time recruit. If so, hopefully he'll play at CU.

Tough to say. I think he really loves being in charge of a program on the rise. Maybe if he wins a D-2 national championship he might look around. Not sure if he would move into a coordinator role or look for a HC job only.

KId has it made with the fast food chain to fall back on, at least, that's how my granddaughter used to pronounce it.

You're probably right on the HC part - he has been an assistant here before, and he's doing a helluva job as HC down there. Would OC or DC at a BCS schol be considered a step back or win the D-2, next stop UNC?

I don't know anything specific about Wristen or his goals, other than that he's originally from Pueblo. But the majority of coaches on any given staff are fairly mercenary about career advancement. I don't think the UNC job would be enough to lure him off, but I think a coordinator's gig at a BCS school would probably bring any DII head coach running.

Unless the offer was from someone in the Barnett coaching tree, I think Wristen might need to put together another season or two to get such an opportunity.

He's in a tough spot because he isn't old but he is past the "young rising star" age. I get the impression that he really likes running the program in Pueblo and being in charge. Taking it from nothing to a #1 ranked program has to be pretty satisfying as well. I also get the impression that he likes living in Colorado and Pueblo specifically. I don't see a lot of offers coming his way that would lure him away, a CU position may be the exception.
