Thanks for the heads up, valdezj.

Baylis had 22 receptions for 298 yards and 5 touchdowns this season for Grandview.

He's also a pretty highly-regarded lacrosse prospect (good overall athlete), but he told Rivals in a pre-season interview that he was looking to play football in college. It's also likely that he visited CU on an unofficial during the season (he had planned to), although I never saw confirmation of that.

Here's a video of his lacrosse highlights:

I've been looking around online for info on the kid. I'm not sure if he's considered a D1 recruit. Anyone know about him? His vitals look pretty good.

Looks like he has a football highlight video on youtube now -

His end of season stats ended up being 33 receptions for 428 yards. 6 touchdowns.

    Thanks for the highlights, morecowbell.

He really looks good in the film. I've got him as my #5 player from Colorado heading into 2011 (Miles, Callahan, Thurston, Norgard, Baylis). If he puts on about 20 lbs for his senior year and does the agility work in the offseason, he could really be great.

P.S. Good job registering with an interesting name. I can't stand the people who use "CU" or "Buff" in their names here. :smile2:

Thanks for the username compliment. I still laugh when I see the More Cowbell SNL skit!

Miles is amazing - I'll be interested to see what he ends up ranking nationwide. Berglund is a stud and I'm happy to see him commit to CU. Would be nice to pull Miles too.

If he played at Kent or CC or Arapahoe he'd probably be a legit D1 lacrosse player with that size and stick skills.

Looks like a legit pass catching TE. We should get a great feeling of him through Embree. I'm sure he has a certain eye for the position.

That being said, this guy probably has to go night and day to get to the point where he needs to be blocking wise.

His buddies call him Gumby. Don't know why (Christian and Nick if you're reading this, Gumby).

"After they got rid of Dan Hawkins, I thought they really improved," he said of Colorado. "They looked like they are going to be on the rise. They are making some good changes that are necessary. They are bringing a good style of football there."

Caught 33 balls to lead Grandview this year. CU, Notre Dame and Boise State are his top 3 right now.

I feel pretty confident that Baylis is going to be one of the top 10 in-state prospects for the 2012 class. I'd guess somewhere around #5 and a solid 3* rating.

I'd like to see Baylis commit this spring.

I especially like the idea of matching big tight ends against spread defenses. Nickel backs and sped LBs can't handle them.

Will be interesting to see how his recruiting progesses. He might be a prospect that gets slow-played for a while.

By many accounts, there is a sizable drop-off between the top three recruits in-state next year (Miles, Callahan, Thurston) and everyone else. The top-end talent looks to be very good, but the depth is just not there. I am just surmising that Baylis may be a guy that the coaches wait on for a while.

I see him as receiving offers early. Several schools have done well with the athletic big guys running them as TE's, HBacks, and Slot receivers.

Supposedly (message board rumor that I think started on Buffscoop), there are 6 in-state prospects that currently have CU offers. Baylis is one of them along with Miles, Norgard, Callahan and Thurston. I'm efforting to find out the 6th.

Baylis has picked up a Boise State offer.

"CU wants me to come up and visit the campus on an unofficial visit to meet with the coaches and I am thinking about doing that pretty soon," Baylis said. "I like it up there. I have been to some of their games and it is in-state so if I went there I would be close to my family and everything."

    http://colorado.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1186455

I think there's a good chance Baylis will get offered on his unofficial and that we'll get a commitment from him before next season starts.

not bad speed, needs to catch with his hands more, decent blocker, smacks 'em in the mouth. seals the edge pretty well. just gotta get a little lower being so tall to get into linebackers and ends.

He's a very good receiving threat. You like the big boys that can get in the seem and stretch the zone. This guy can do that. Now can he block? I've seen a few snippets but not near enough to know he's for real in that area.

Still, the kid has potential. I have no problem with the in-state offer. He'd be a good one to keep around. WCO's depend on safety valves at the TE/H-Back/RB positions to take pressure off the QB's after their 1st and 2nd reads.

Baylis has picked up an offer from Colorado (also CSU) to go with the one he had from Boise State.

Strong CU lean. Another early commit for the Buffs?

If we got Baylis to jump early, that's two VERY solid in-state recruits who will be helping out the depth and athleticism on this team. You have to love that as a fan.

I will be surprised if he does not commit by the time the Spring Game weekend is over. My guess is it is over sooner than that though.

Baylis has picked up a Michigan offer. For a class that received very little advanced hype, the 2012 class is suddenly shaping up to be quite good. Really hope we can lay the foundation of a great class with the majority of the elite in-state players.

Now everyone who questioned whether he was good enough for a CU offer is going to start saying he's a "must get" for this class. :wink2:

Definitely shaping up to be a good in-state class this year. Probably about 20 guys who will go D1 with 6-8 going BCS. Could be more once we factor in the sleepers who develop between their junior and senior years.

It looks like Michigan will have a presence in CO under Hoke. This one will get interesting
