Maybe it's just because I'm (or the CU staff) more focused on west coast recruiting, but it seems that Washington is having a great year for HS players.

To give people an idea, Bellevue is very comparable to Cherry Creek as a community. As far as the football team, think of the Cherry Creek program in the early to mid 90s. Maybe better. They're usually considered a top 50 national program. This is the right Washington prep program to try to build recruiting relationships with.

Hasty can play, too. In fact, he looks so good that I'd want us going after him early even if he was outside of our recruiting geography and played for a high school we'd likely never contact again. Really glad we're the first team in. Hopefully that makes an impression.

Highlights are real nice as a CB...great recognition of ball and terrific wrap up tackler....WR isn't his position though

His dad is former NFL DB James Hasty, who coaches at Bellevue.

Surprisingly, CU remains Hasty's only offer.

Our coaches made a quick decision, they wanted to be at full speed with this kid before other schools joined the race

Just ran a 4.5 flat forty:

Handheld, but it wasn't on a track. Definitely has the speed to play corner on this level.

Grades maybe? (unfortunately that's my first assumption when kids have really good highlight films, have good size, and play for a big time program, never-mind the fact that his Dad was an NFL player)

Not to make too much of it, but JR, his older brother who was a hell of a player struggled mightily with grades at U-Dub, then Central Washington.

JR was one of the players that was ruined by the Willingham-error of coaching a few years ago. It's hard to say how JR would have done with the current staff at UW. I suspect much, much better. It may or may not have an influence on Tyler's decision, but I would not be surprised to see him avoid UW due to the bad taste in the mouth left by Willingham on JR.

I agree, absolutely...but JR also flunked out at CWU. Maybe Tyrone had some impact, but dude still didn't get it done in the classroom.

His team rolled down to socal and played Oaks Christian. I only caught the 4th quarter, but Hasty was all over the place. The announcers also said he had 1 or 2 picks, I forget, and a fumble recovery.

Adam Gorney (West recruiting analyst for Rivals) was raving about Hasty's performance this past weekend.

He definitely looked pretty good, if he still hasn't received new offers his grades must be terrible.

Saw the game on local TV and Hasty is a stud, he was definitely the best athlete on the field, yes better than Ishmael Adams and Jordan Payton. Hasty would be a great addition to the Buffs, and he will likely see many more D-1 offers after his performance against Oaks Christian I suspect.

We really want to land this guy.

    Northwest Scout Report
TYLER HASTY –CORNERBACK– BELLEVUE (WA) - 2012
    [IMG]Final Score: Bellevue 31, Oaks Christian 21

Scout's Take: There was little doubt that Hasty was the player of the game in this inter-state showdown. The senior corner had two interceptions along with a fumble that he stole out of Ishmael Adams arms. Hasty also played quarterback for the Wolverines and was their most dangerous runner out of the backfield. Hasty has deceptively good speed, with the ability to run with anyone. He was able to catch Adams from about ten yards back on the strip. Hasty does not have excellent size, but it is more than adequate to play corner at the collegiate level. Hasty also had the hit of the game, again picking on Adams and cart wheeling him head over heels on a swing pass the first play of the game. Hasty is a gamer, with the natural instincts at corner that can't be taught. When the lights come on he makes plays and was easily the difference between Oaks Christian and Bellevue.

Recruiting: Offer from Colorado. Interest from Pac-12 programs.
