Lots of people who are new to each state and the state pride doesn't run as deep. Once we're back to winning, we'll absolutely kill it in both states. Until then, we're going to lose a ton of recruiting battles before they even begin.

Definitely see the 'state pride' thing much less in the West (although certainly many Cali kids are set on staying there). However, it's just nothing like you find in other areas, and it's hardly just the few Deep South states that may first come to mind
 
Not just losing that explains the struggles in Arizona IMO. Until it is a priority on the level
of TX, CA, and CO, I think we will struggle there.
