Oregon's top ranked linebacker for the class of 2013, Evan Colorito (6-4 230 Jr. LB) of Beaverton, received his first major D1 offer from Colorado on Friday and looks to be on the verge of many more. Colorito has been one of the state leaders in sacks for the past two seasons receiving all league honors in 10' and 11' .

He recorded 16.5 sacks over the last two years and has shown flashes of dominance. When referencing the offer Colorito says, " I feel really good about it, its my first big time D1 scholarship and Im excited".

Evan is the son of former USC All American Dr. Tony Colorito who also went to a Super Bowl with Denver during his NFL career. Colorito has an outstanding frame and legit quicks coming off the end. As good as he is right now, his potential is through the roof.

You can expect Oregon St to take a serious look at getting Colorito an offer some time soon, and Oregon seems to be very interested as well. USC has invited him to their team camp and many more Pac 12 schools and beyond could be pulling the trigger.

Evan is an outstanding kid first and foremost and he will be someone that we look forward to working with on the Camp and Combine Tour over the spring and summer.

Colorito played a mixture of defensive end and linebacker for Beaverton, but most schools agree on where they see him playing in college.

“The schools are looking at me as an outside linebacker,” said Colorito. “That’s really where I project at the next level.”

update: lots of big time schools sniffing around on this one. Another find from the staff. He is interested in us, but seems wide open.

Also, seems like he is trying to eat his way into a DE/Jack position size. now up to 230.

It sounded like he was mostly just excited to have a Pac-12 offer, not necessarily one from us

Buff fans need to appreciate the situation that Embree walked into. Most high school prospects in California and Texas have very little awareness of CU. We haven't been to a bowl game since they were in elementary school. We haven't been a challenger on the national stage since they were around 5 years old. They're at that age when a 30-year old teacher is considered "old".

The advantage of being invisible for a while is that Embree and staff can write the story. They can talk about what we were from the late 80s until the early 2000s. They can talk about how the people who built that are back to bring the program to what it was and should be. They can show the transformational facilities plan. They can point to the opportunity to be part of everything that's going on here just like Embree was when he committed to CU back in the day. Being the new guy in the conference makes this a good message about the fresh start. It all dovetails together. As long as players like Colorito are listening, and especially if they visit, there is a powerful message that a lot of talented players will respond to.

Knowing the Oregon recruiting game, in-state kids get offered last. My guess is he will pick up an OSU or Wazzu offer and head that direction. Or he will be a PWO at U of O. Personally I would like to get a guy who shows better in his coverage than running around bags.

I know it's juvenile, but I'm just excited about hearing an announcer say -- "Colorito for Colorado!!!"

    It's just too perfect. :smile2:

Their class is so ridiculous that when 4* Nico Falah committed to them, USC's average recruit grade went down.

I would hope we are in it. He is a 3rd tier guy as far as LB's go. He will probably end up at Oregon St anyway.

Surprised he chose CSU over us but maybe our LB class is full now and the offer was no longer on the table?

Kid could turn out to be a player for CSU. Looks like a better fit for the MWC than the PAC which may be why the PAC offers never materialized. HS he played LB and DL. College looks like a guy who may not have the speed to be a PAC LB and not have the size to be a PAC DL. I can believe the 235lb+ figure but I don't believe he is anything like the 4.59 listed and if he is it is straight line, not quick in small spaces.

Our ILBs last year were slow (primarily because of knee injuries but slow just the same) and PAC OCs destroyed us by sending faster recievers into their zones.
MWC doesn't have the depth a quick inside recievers and also is more run focused so it makes a better fit.

He ran an electronic 4.59 40. Sometimes big and fast just isn't enough.

Electronic? Does that mean somebody used a cattle prod to get this kid to run that fast?
