The Woodlands teammates Patrick Carr and Jonathan Huckins were named to the Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Football Team announced on Friday.
Huckins, a senior offensive guard on his way to play at the University of Colorado, was a second-team selection. Carr, a sophomore running back and the Courier’s pick for Montgomery County Player of the Year, was a third-team pick.

Carr would often credit Huckins and his offensive teammates after a prolific game for the Highlanders, which became a regular occurence over the second half of the season.
“Jon started for us as a junior, so he had 14 games of experience coming into his senior year,” TWHS coach Mark Schmid said. “He was a natural leader on the offensive line. He enjoys playing football. He enjoys practice.
“Nothing is drudgery for him. The fact that he was recognized by the Texas sports writers is a great accomplishment for him.”
Schmid pointed out that Huckins was a defensive lineman as a junior varsity player but was quick to accept the move to the offensive line.
“We’re really excited about Jon getting the chance to play at Colorado,” Schmid said.

Maybe Jonathan can suggest that a visit to Boulder would be worthwhile for Patrick Carr as well. If he's 3rd team all-Texas as a Soph he might be a good bet for a future Buff, another chance to run behind Jonathan.
