Looks like like his game/body is a cross between XJ and Dre; another freak athlete on the wing.

    Rivals (TX Preps):

George King (6-foot-5/San Antonio Brennan) has the body and the game that will take him to the next level. He can hit the three, explode to the basket and finish above the rim. He also has the size and quickness to play defense on the perimeter.

    D1 Nation:

He’s already closing in on 6’6″ and he’s chiseled. Big Daddy George King Sr. is 6’7″ so don’t be surprised if Little George hits 6’8″.

In addition to his ballhandling and agility King rebounds much bigger than his 6’6″ and can also take a bigger defender outside where he’s capable of knocking down the outside shot. He’s explosive when finishing around the rim, brings his lunch pail, going to work letting his game do the talking and is very coachable.
My San Antonio (March 7, 2013):

“Everybody likes dunks and 3-pointers, and if you're a top recruit, you can probably spend all day working on that,' King said. “I was going to work on everything I could to stand apart.”

“He's an animal,” said Brennan guard Johnny Azzinaro, who is No. 5 on the San Antonio area career scoring list with 2,532 points. “George does all these intangible things that you don't notice unless you watch closely. He works so hard at the little things.”

My San Antonio (April 27, 2013 - Named All-Area Player of the Year):

Honors: TABC All-State, District 28-4A MVP

Averages: 16.6 points, 11.5 rebounds, 1.6 blocks, made 60 percent from field.

Highlights: Helped lead Bears to a 39-3 record, a sweep of District 28-4A, the No. 1 ranking among Class 4A teams in Texas in February and an appearance in the state semifinals. ... Recorded 25 double-doubles. ... Had two 20-20 games, with 23 points and 20 rebounds against Warren (Nov. 12), and 20 points and 20 rebounds against Lanier (Jan. 29) including 12 rebounds in one quarter. ... All-Area last season.

Quotable: "He's such a physical player, and he was so smart in understanding how effective he could be by using his size, getting rebounds and doing dirty work." — Lanier coach Rudy Bernal

KENS 5 San Antonio (Dunk Clip):

The Brennan Bears are 32-2 so far this season. One reason behind the teams success: Two straight-A students who could also draw perfect 10s in a dunk contest.

KENS 5's Vinnie Vinzetta caught up with head coach Tommy Hines and his twin towers, 6-foot-5 George King and 6-foot-6 Jordan Murphy.

(Gershon tweeted, but Will Whelan has been keeping this under wraps for weeks. He's been all over this one. Can't wait for his article.)

Edit: Article coming, but Will had the following quote from King on the Rivals board: "I loved it out there and I committed to the staff (tonight)."

Normally I wouldn't post staff content from the board, but I wanted to give credit where it's due. Will has had this since King impressed at the Best Buy Mile High Classic a couple weeks ago and our coaching staff went all in.

Re: '13 TX SF George King (Verbal to Colorado)

I like the writeup more now. Sounds like a player who will work hard and play good defense.

One player away from having The Duck and The King play at CU. Heard they are running cash games down at Venice Beach.

    Even more reported offers.

From the D1 Nation write-up of the Mile High Classic a couple weeks ago:

Granger D1 were led by 2013 George King (offers from Colorado State, UTEP, Northern Iowa, Colorado, Gonzaga, Marquette and Texas A&M)

Also, the New Mexico board said that they saw that King had taken a visit to Boston College, so they may have offered him too.

Hoopniks featured King after the Mile High Classic (where Billups Elite was also competing):

    [h=3]King turns heads, earns interest[/h] [IMG]George King – Brennan (TX)/Danny Granger Elite

Spring events always seem to showcase unbelievably underrated players, and this year’s event saw the emergence of Brennan (TX) wing George King. The player of the year in San Antonio, Texas, King told Hoopniks.com he had scholarship offers from Weber State, Northwestern State, Northern Colorado and Long Island going into the live period.

Based on King’s play, it’s clear he’s a high-major talent, which makes it no surprise that he’s garnered new interest from UTEP, Colorado State, Northern Iowa, and several others based on his recent play. King has the look of a Big-12 or Pac-12 wing forward, and one could expect his list to expand before it gets smaller.

In his last game of the event, King went off for 32 points (including five 3-pointers) which occurred in front of coaches from BCS-level and mid-major programs. It will be no surprise if he gains new offers from some of those onlookers.

King showed a well-rounded offensive game in addition to his outside shooting, as he had deft touch from the mid-range and got above the rim on several occasions. He was active on the glass, and plays larger than his 6′-6″ height.

Based on his performance throughout the weekend, King could be a valued addition to a BCS-level program at this stage in his development.

    Rivals (Texas Hoops):

GEORGE is a strong built forward who can explode at the rim. He is long and athlete and can hit the open three, drain the mid-range jumper, and take smaller guards off the block. He has good skills and will mix it up on the glass. He plays above the rim and is a double-double threat when he hits the court.

A couple of notes on King:

    - He was used as a spot up shooter as a sophomore, averaging about 7 ppg. He was used more as a junior, but apparently grew about 3 inches leading up to his senior year. He learned how to use that size to his advantage and really came on as a senior.

    - Brennan has a D1 PG (Bucknell commit, I believe) and he apparently had the green light to take the first open shot. That limited King's opportunities to showcase his perimeter game and he did a lot of the dirty work.

    - One of the local news outlets reported he's a straight A student in the classroom.

Can someone update the scholarship situation? I thought we were one over before Dre declared; aren't we now one over again?
