'14 CA TE Hayden Jones (Signed to Colorado)

Easy to make the comparison here, but my co-workers son who plays hs ball in sac says jones reminds him of solder. Family is from boston and are huge pats fans so obviously some hometown/favorite team bias.

Love hitting the Sacramento area hard.

Also agree that he's a future OT. Which makes you wonder, Center is probably a OT and so is Jones, are we done with TE?

If he is as athletic as they say, why don't they leave him there. That is a large TE and he can catch. Keep him there.

Midseason highlights from HUDL have him at 6'7 255lbs for what it is worth

He lost some weight for basketball season that he'll have to gain back for next football season. Not necessarily a bad thing, though, as long as he didn't stop lifting weights once football season ended. Would just mean he improved fitness and cut some bad weight.

Sounds like a mac kid. Can play multiple positions, kicker, punter, probably carries the water and drives the school bus. Happy to have him.

If we can ever be satisfied with our OL depth I would love to take tackle-framed players coming out of high school in the 240-250 range and keep them at TE if they are athletic enough to play that position in the Pac-12. Stanford having Fleener, Ertz, and Toilolo on the roster at the same time in 2011 was one of the scariest things I've ever seen and they killed us with them.

Our OL depth may not allow it but it would be cool to have a guy like Matt Lepsis was for us at TE

He was big enough and a good enough blocker that when he got to the NFL he had a very successful career as a tackle. At the same time at CU he was a good enough TE to be a threat. He wasn't the college version of Shannon Sharpe but he caught some big passes and was enough of a threat to require defensive attention. At the same time he just devastated some defenses as a blocker.

With defenses getting smaller and quicker to deal with the spreads having a guy who is a missmatch blocking would be fun to see out of the TE position.

Hayden will most likely play a lot of snaps as a freshman both as a backup TE and on special teams.
