Apparently just started playing for Chaminade in October after moving from Canada this year, very raw player

Guessing FL, OH doesn't have the budget to be scouting under the radar guys out in California.

Very interesting article I just found. Lenius's grandfather (Eldridge Dickey) should have been the first black quarterback to start in pro football instead of James Harris (who started for the Bills in 1969). Wish we'd gotten a chance to see him play:

    http://www.cbssports.com/general/wr...e-to-create-nfl-legacy-that-dickey-was-denied

In 1968 the AFL Raiders made Dickey the first black quarterback chosen in the first round -- then made him change positions. Well, not at first. The Raiders gave Dickey a chance at quarterback, though in hindsight not much of a chance for a player who threw for 6,628 yards and 74 touchdowns in college.

"Many scouts believed he might become the first black quarterback to play as a regular in professional football," wrote Sports Illustrated on Sept. 16, 1968. "Dickey also believed it, and he still does."

That preseason, Dickey was a revelation at quarterback. The Oakland Tribune noted in a headline that "Dickey stats [are] better than [Roger] Staubach and [Ken] Stabler" and described him in one exhibition as "[making] it look ridiculously easy to score a touchdown against the huge and handy Kansas City Chiefs. ... Dickey, perhaps predictably, was the most exciting player on the field. He also sent 50-yard passes bowling down the field with the flick of the wrist."

FIFY... pretty sure the AFL was just as 'pro football' as the NFL

If he can run I'd rather have him at WR.

Big WRs who can still run create missmatch problems that put a big strain of defenses.

I want us to have an effective TE game as much as anyone but why force it. If the kid can be a difference maker at WR, keep him at WR.

Agree. Made that comment after watching his BB highlights. Looks like a smooth, gifted athlete. Also, could be wrong, but appeared to lack the burst that you need at WR. I personally have a thing for athletic TE's that have great ball skills...they create significant mismatches.

Spoke with Chaminade coach Ed Croson about his team. He said Brayden is a "monster" and had to sit out the first five games because of transfer rules.

Croson said Lenius has a huge upside as he's only 16 years old. 6-foot-5, 215 and can run ... "and he has great hands, he has giant hands and it helps."

San Diego State has offered and Lenius is set for a Washington State visit. Utah offered Lenius today.

16! Seems like a redshirt candidate were he to come here. I'm positive he could help us down the road but if we're taking a true WR in this class I'd prefer someone who would make an instant impact as a true frosh rather than a developmental guy with our scholarship numbers. If he can beat out Bobo, Ross, or JT on the depth chart for the CSU game then it would be worth it but otherwise I think OL and DB are crucial positions that should get the priority in recruiting at the moment.

Love these late finds personally. Great stories.

also love to make sure the kids are properly evaluated. Still leery about the last Canuck we took. No small feat though if he was shredding Serra.

He would make a good grayshirt candidate. The time would allow him to get older, continue to grow, and give him a spot on our team where he could make a contribution.

Based on what? How can you conclude that he should grayshirt rather than be offered?

The last scholarship ones I can think of were the Hage brothers. Dakota Poole was a walk on I think.

Pretty sure that Dakota Poole was a scholly player, never played with his injuries (recurrent theme with Hawkins recruits.)

Dakota Poole was definitely the last scholarship Canuck. Still getting his education paid for by CU, if he's still here to collect.

If the Pirate is offering? then the kid has pretty good hands.. Would take him at WR and tell him to go up and get the ball on the fade and corner jump balls, we have not had that at Colorado for a long time, if ever?

Michael Westbrook would be justified in treating you like Stephen Davis for posting that.
