Similarly, I will probably end up in Sofia Vergara, even though we've never met.

You'll have to get through me first, and I don't think either of us want that.

He's not going to walk on anywhere.

More likely is that Oregon is talking to him. They tend to recruit guys that others don't. This kid's size is causing a lot of college's to look past him but his speed is pretty real. I personally would not be surprised at all if Oregon is recruiting him. Have they offered? Probably not, but just because sites aren't reporting an offer doesn't mean there isn't one either.

I don't recall people saying that, I recall people saying that because of his size he would be more lightly recruited than normal with his speed.

I don't see how small guys that are super quick fit our current offense too well. Oregon utilizes RBs like this in their offense. We have a lot of trouble getting DD the ball currently for whatever reason. Short guys need to catch the ball on quick throws in space, or as a RB. We do neither with DD.

Is this because of DD or the offense. When I have watched DD does have some speed but he hasn't been particularly effective at getting open or at catching the ball when it comes to him.

We aren't going to be Oregon making huge holes for the speed guys to run through but very few offenses can't make us of a guy with speed and skill.

DD hasn't been effective in catching the ball when it's thrown to him? Are we watching the same games? DD gets good yardage when he gets the ball and need more plays that are designed to get him the ball in space.

DD has 17 catches all season for 263 yards. Take out the 75 yard catch against an FCS team and he has under 200 yards on the season. They don't list official stats for drops but I know of a few that would have added significantly to his totals. I can also remember some drops that killed drives. Again taking out the one long gain and he is averaging under 12 yards a catch, not exactly something that is going to scare defenses into opening up other things to cover him.

Not saying he is bad but he certainly hasn't been a game changer for us either.

I don't think that it's a stretch to assume that if Oregon is truly interested in Turner that his skills may be potentially better than a number of the guys we are playing now. No guarantees but Oregon has a track record

Yeah, I was saying he was to small and shouldn't be a RB.

DD hasn't been targeted enough, but that doesn't mean he drops balls, I'm not sure why you're acting like the two are the same. I'd also be curious for you to pull up a stat that says he doesn't catch almost every pass that comes his way, he's had more than a few key 3rd down conversion catches. The whole "take out this and this" is also funny, people don't do that when looking at stats for players around the country, but hey we must! DD averages 15.5 yards per touch, even if you take out the OOC he has 11 touches for 191 yards (17.4 yards per catch) and 1 touchdown. Yeah, totally someone who can't help this team when he's on the field, it's not like he adds speed and athleticism out there for us because after all, we are swimming in it.

Never understood why people think it's ok to ignore certain numbers when looking at stats. That 75 yard td catch deserves to be included because he did it. It happened. I doubt anybody will discount Cooks numbers against eastern Washington when looking at his statistics.

    ^^This^^

It's like when the Eagles released Chris Carter because "he only catches touchdowns". You know there were people who thought that made sense and were nodding along. 'Hey, if you take all those TD catches out of his stats then he's really not very productive.'

Certainly it counts. At the same time it was a one time thing, not a regular event that we see game in and game out.

To say that we shouldn't consider PRich's long TD's would be a different thing. That is because he has multiples of them and has done it against multiple schools including some pretty good DBs.

I'm not saying I don't like DD, that isn't the case. What I am saying is that against quality competition his contribution has been pretty limited. I wouldn't use his production as an argument to say that another kids who happens to be smaller but with significant speed couldn't be a much more significant contributor.

Did Oregon have any interest in DD, would they now as a transfer. Don't know how much interest they have in Mr. Turner but I think that if they do, even as a fall back that says something about his ability compared to guys we are playing.

My point is DD is very quick and fast, and we don't get him the ball. Two big catches he had this year were over the shoulder where he had pretty tight coverage. Because he is a good deal shorter than the DBs, those situations require a perfectly thrown ball.

My point was that our offense doesn't seem designed for this type of receiver or make use of this sort of a RB. I just haven't seen him utilized in space.

P Rich gets a lot more opportunities than DD does. Btw DD's 75 yard td catch was against Oregon, not an fcs team.

Why does PRich get more opportunities. Might have something to do with him being open and catching the balls that come his way.

Again I am not anti DD. I just see a small guy who is fast but hasn't shown himself to be particularly talented other than that speed. I don't see a lot of DD being wide open and I don't see him making particularly tough catches.

He is one of the best we have outside of PRich but isn't that why we are where we are right now.

This is unfortunate. There is no better way to upgrade your offense then by having a bunch of guys with good speed but a few inches short on height. Maybe with another year of work Sefo will deliver that perfect ball?

I would love to land Dotson, Lee and Turner as our skill position players on offense this year. That would be an instant speed upgrade.

I like speed but you have to have guys who are also strong enough to get off of a bump at the LOS. A guy like Turner might run like the wind but how fast is he when a guy who is 25 lbs bigger and 4 inches taller pushing him for the first five yards. Alot of pass plays are based on timing. I like taking a slot guy every year because they can be dynamic but you also need those 6'0 and bigger guys who have length to go up and get passes for your QB. This is doubly important when you don't have that outlet from your TE. I guess that's why I see Turner/Lee as 1. an either or late in the cycle or 2. one of them is brought into to be a special teams guy/DB down the road with the other a slot WR.

I would like to take one athlete a year who the staff looks at and says "He will upgrade our kick return game." Without looking at stats I am guessing CU is near the bottom of conference and not very respectable nationally in starting field position. If he has shown ability to protect the football in high school with that speed I would love to have him as a returner. Let his other position sort itself out.

Yes, I would rather see a Demaryus Thomas type who is bigger than some TEs and faster than some sprinters. So would everyone else and those guys usually end up at schools that won 10 games and went to a significant bowl the prior year.

In the absensce of that we need some serious speed upgrades on this team. Don't know if this kid the guy to do that or not but the fact that we can't get everything we want doesn't mean that we shouldn't go after the best we can get.

I agree on the special teams aspect. And I would also say if you can get a player like Turner five touches a game, why not? That's not making him the centerpiece of the offense or anything, but gives him a chance to make an impact with explosive plays.
