    New article from Adam: https://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1640756

"They are showing a lot of interest. On Friday, they sent me 52 pieces of mail, reasons why I should commit to Colorado," Kearns said. "I am really feeling good about them. I have known [Buffs head] coachMike MacIntyre since he was at San Jose State. I got to talk to [former San Jose State quarterback] David Fales and he gave a ringing endorsement.

He will be at the CU June 1 camp.

The MO for this staff has been to see a kid in person before offering, so I'm assuming any offer would not be committable until after that camp, correct?

We've already seen him in person, but haven't offered yet. Reasonable to assume he will get an offer (or not) after June 1.

Hard to understand how he has only 1 offer so far. Would be nice to get the scoop on that! Yes I read the Rivals article and it references others schools giving him a look but given how the dominos are falling and teams are making commitments to their QB for the class it doesn't make sense that he hasn't gotten more offers.

4* QB, top 10 PS. What I am missing?

Is this an indication that the coaches don't have a lot of confidence in landing Jones, or are they simply covering their bases?

A couple of those receivers he has don't look half bad either.

Note: I've already had to prune this thread once regarding a certain former QB at CU that is now playing basketball. Let's keep that sort of "analysis" out of here, thanks.

He looks very physical, not afraid to block and go up for the ball.

Especially since it is a ridiculous comparison. This kid is not overly tall but tall enough and looks reasonable solidly built, also shows a good strong arm and highlights show some strong throws on the move.

Looks like he sets up and releases pretty quickly as well. Shows some reasonable mobility but uses his mobility to enhance the pass not look to run.

Overall if M2 is looking to go more to the pistol type offense he had at SJSU this kid looks like a nice match in skills.

I like how when he has to run he keeps his eyes downfeild and gets the ball to the receivers (many times when they are well covered.)

I remember how Elway could keep plays alive like that.

I like how he plays and seems to have good touch and accuracy.

Kearns prides himself on his competitiveness and toughness. He said he plays quarterback with a linebacker mentality. His father played linebacker at Oregon.

"Not a lot of quarterbacks nowadays like to get in the pocket, get hit underneath the chin and deliver the ball and get right back up and go to the next play. They sulk or they get mad at the offensive line," he said. "I feel like that is part of the game and a lot of quarterbacks deviate from that and they don't have that toughness to them."

Sounds exactly like the attitude Sefo brings to the game

The book on Kearns seems to be as follows:

    - Does everything well (accuracy, footwork, vision, arm strength, touch) that you'd like to see from a QB.
    - Does not do anything at an eye popping level that would vault him into the elite prospect group.

Similarly, he's tall enough but doesn't have elite height. He's got a good frame and strength to take hits, but he's not a Roethlisburger. He's got some athleticism, but he's not going to out-dance or outrun a defense to make big plays with his legs. Physically, as with skill set, everything is good but nothing is elite.

He also showed great maturity in how he handled himself in the Rivals interview with Adam.

If the book is correct, I'd be excited to land Kearns. He seems to have the toughness/gamer aspect to his play. Couple that with not having any holes in his game and he could be an excellent college quarterback. If CU coaches extend an offer after Sunday's camp, it will tell us a lot about whether that book is correct.

Nik I also noticed his poise in that interview. I thought about myself at his age and my students who are just a little older and there is no comparison. Very level-headed, poised. Just what you want in a QB. That part also reminded me of Sefo who has also blown me away with his poise in interviews for his age.

P.S. We still haven´t heard if he received an offer at the end of the camp? I´d be quite surprised if he didn´t get one.

Does that mean that we passed (pun intended) on him?
