Looks like a solid prospect, but I wonder some about his release and arm strength.

Now a 4* on rivals. Utah State is still his only offer

Is the west coast evaluator the same guy that evaluated Sefo? I think he had Sefo higher than his offer list and I think he was spot on. He may prefer pocket passers of course.

They moved on to Plan B pretty quickly after losing Rypien. I don't mind another west coast school locking up their QB though.

Kid just reminds me so much of S.D. in his tight shirt that I don't think I can look at his vids with an open mind. Great to hear there's one less spot in the footprint.

He is much more fundamentally sound than SD was.

It's one of four PAC 12 school with an open QB competition in 2015. If he gets the job, great decision, if not; either transfer or enjoy 5yrs next to Idaho.

He's got no illusion of coming in and winning the starting job.

I think he will take over the starting job earlier or half way thru the season next year; his recruiting style reminds me of Sefo; not highly recruited but decisive on his decision thats right for him

Yep, glad they're getting the 4 and 5 star guys out of the way.

We hadn't even offered. The fewer possible destinations for Jones and Waller, who we're actually targeting, the better.

You said it's somehow good for us that these QBs are taken by our conference foes. I guess I'm not seeing it the same way...

    UA
    ASU - Bryce Perkins 3*
    Cal
    OU
    OSU
    Stan
    UCLA - Josh Rosen 5*
    USC - Ricky Town 5*
    Utah
    UW - Jake Browning 4*
    WSU - Tyler Hilinski 4*

It's not hard to figure out man...

We want Sheriron Jones, who seems to be looking mostly at Pac 12 schools. The more Pac schools with QB commitments, the better our chances are at getting our #1 choice.

I don't know, he's only got 2 other PAC-12 offers, one of which has a QB commit already. So tell me again how other PAC-12 schools getting their guy is a good thing, as proposed in the post I responded to. What happens if we strike out on our dream QB? Our foes load up and we get #2 or lower on our board. Yeah, that's what happens, I just don't see the goodness of our conference brethren loading up that evidently you and mattrob do.

We weren't recruiting this kid. Period. Don't care how many stars he had, he wasn't a guy we wanted.

He takes a position at WSU, that perhaps, theoretically, one of the kids that we are recruiting may have taken and can't now. Don't see why that's so difficult to understand.

Ultimately, I don't think WSU is or ever was our competition for a QB. Cal, UofA, Utah are a lot more interesting to us. But you never know. We could be hard after some kid now besides the couple we know about and perhaps he is a big Leach fan. That's much less likely now.

If we do not land Jones, it will be a problem. But a little confused about the worry in regards to Hilinski. Wazzu scrambled after losing their top target, which has no real tangible effect on us.

The west coast is loaded with QB talent this year. It was pretty much a given that more than half of the conference was going to end up with 4 or 5 star QB's. If we land Jones or Waller, we're going to keep pace, or gain ground on, most of the conference. WSU landing Hilinski doesn't set us back at all and it's just one less potential landing spot for QB's we actually are targeting.

Oh, I get it now, you're saying there are so many quality QBs that it doesn't matter who signs who.

As long as we land one of our top QB targets, it won't matter where Hilinsky ends up.

    sort of.

While Hilinski appears to be a good QB, we were not recruiting him. We were not interested. So him signing elsewhere is not a problem for our coaches.
