ESPN's scouting report:

ESPN Analyst
Updated 04/28/2014

Strengths:
Smith is a talented wing-type that can do just about everything a coach will need at the next level. He can handle the ball in the open court, knock in shots, and his overall athletic prowess is impressive. He has a tendency to play in spurts, but he does appear to be a high IQ player. He is at his best in transition while attacking the defense and he can slither his way to the rim for the high-level finish. In addition, if his drive gets cut off he has the savvy to drop off the assist.

Weaknesses:
For Smith to take the next step, he needs to play more assertive at both ends (defending/rebounding) and with more purpose in mind. He takes ill-advised shots early on in the possession and he needs to do a better job of attacking off the dribble against pressure. His handle (dribbles to high) overall needs to tighten up as does his mid-range game. Learning to play more on balance and continuing to add to his skill set (runners, post ups, dribbling with his off hand, etc.) will help him elevate his game.

Bottom Line:
Smith has a lot of the physical tools scouts look for in a wing-type. However, his approach to the game (playing with purpose/playing harder) as well as his skill level need to improve to make that expected impact at the next level a reality.

According to the twitters, we offered him today. Honestly, looking over his offer list, I'm not holding my breath on this one but you never know. Hopefully we've been involved for a long time and it's just now coming public. Sounds like he's a physical beast with a high basketball IQ who sometimes takes defensive possessions off. I think Tad could help with that.

EDIT - God dammit, Nik beat me by seconds.
