Yes I know we just signed our '14 class today, but I think there should be major concern about our '15 class. As we all know Colorado has not been the greatest at keeping talented Colorado football players in-state. This trend doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon.

I do think that we are more than capable of reaching a bowl game this next season which in return may help lure some of the top in-state recruits to stay in-state.

Maybe I am overreacting, but than again, maybe I am not.

Eric Lee Jr. was born and breed red, Husker lock from birth. He recruited and flipped his friend from Arizona State to kNU.

CU is looking good for Lynot. Someone just posted on rivals 7 of the top 10 from Arizona left the state. Oregon and Washington not Koch different either IIRC. It really is a culture thing.

More interested to see what happens in CA and TX. This is the strongest year in CA in about a decade and USC has a full 25 to give, which trickles down. Competition is going to be fierce, especially for QBs. In TX, interested to see if we make any headway.

I think Anderson comes to his senses before NLOI day 2015. He will have a lot of better options than the nubs.

The direction of this thread doesn't seem to match the title. Am I missing something?

You're not missing anything. I started the thread to propose the argument that CU has a hard time protecting Colorado recruits from leaving the state. It is taking a different turn than I intended.

Anderson and Lee want to play their college ball together, maybe that ship's sailed. They're going to lock it down wherever they land.

CU's in early with the Conway and Lynott offers. Nice to see Lazzaro on that list, he has a lot of potential.

Not sure how much they've been in contact with Milo Hall, he said he enjoyed CSU's junior day, but wasn't sure if he'll be at CU's event.

A lot could happen with the Nubs this year. Another poor year from them and Little Bo Peep could be a goner.

Lee is born and raised into the cult. He'd probably go there if they hired Jerry Sandusky as HC and his dad would spend his time talking about what a great human being he is since he is the Nubs HC.

Anderson may come to his senses. It's common for HS buddies to think that they want to hang together for life but eventually they outgrow that and most move on looking at other more important factors in the decision making process.

Colorado is never going to "lock down" the borders in the sense that some other states are but from all indications M2 and staff are out there working with the HS coaches and on the kids and we should see an upturn over time. We had kids this year who were gone before M2 ever truly got a chance to talk to them.

McCaffrey wasn't coming to CU no matter who the coach was, Risner bought into Snyder's snake oil before CU could get in the picture. Jones had been burned off CU by the previous staff, Starks wasn't really a Colorado kid, Scott had a chance to play for Bama and CU put their K attention elsewhere.

If we can get Lynott on board early it will do a lot for momentum, expecially if we finish this years class with Ballage.

On the money here. Yes you are overreacting. Long time until we reach 2015 signing day. If you need to be encourage about in-state recruiting, then you should watch Coach MacIntyre's press conference yesterday.

More interesting imo was the post by someone of the last few years of CO recruits. Basically, missing on them isn't the end of the world.

And it looks like another of the top recruits from 2012 who left is about to go down in flames too.

    From jdub925 on stampede.

    2009
    1. Nick Kasa - DE - Colorado - played all 4 years for CU. Switched to TE with two weeks left in his junior season and was a draft pick by the Oakland Raiders at TE.
    2. Jack Harris - OL - Colorado - played in 4 seasons for CU but battled injuries much of his early years. Started every game last season at LT.
    3. Matt Tucker - ATH - Arizona State - Played sparingly at ASU and transferred to CSU Pueblo after his RS Soph season.
    4. Alex Logan - DB - Cal - Played much of his career at safety but retired during the 2013 season due to injuries
    5. Terry Alleto - OL - BYU - Went on a mission after HS. Started 7 games this year as a RS Soph.

    2010
    1. Chris Martin - DE - Cal - This 5 star recruit wasn't a true CO prep as he transferred in for his senior year. Has bounced around at multiple stops and I believe has landed at Kansas
    2.
Danny Spond - LB - Notre Dame - Started his junior year on ND's national runner-up team but retired after the season due to concussion issues
    3.
Junior Onyeali - LB - ASU - Was named the Pac 10 defensive freshmen of the year. Many on this board were mad that we let him get away and with good reason. Since then he has had off-field issues and missed this last season due to injury.
    4. Dillon Bonnel - OL - Stanford - Started two games as a junior due to injury, but played sparingly this season as a senior.
    5. Mister Jones - RB - Texas A & M - Spurned CU and decided on A&M. After a season they wanted to move him to LB and has since bounced around after trying to transfer to CSU. I believe he ended up at Colorado Mesa University.

    2011
    1. Leilon Willingham - LB -UCF - believe he transferred to UNC
    2. Brendon Austin - OL - Stanford - played in a reserve role and on special teams
    3. Brady Daigh - LB - Colorado - Has played in a reserve role and on special teams
    4. Brock Berglund - QB - Kansas - Has played in the NFL but decided it's not challenging enough so he ended up at UNC
    5. Marc Mustoe - OL - Colorado - Saw his first significant action as a RS Soph and showed some promise before breaking his leg

    2012
    1. Cyler Miles - QB - Washington - There were rumors of a last second switch to CU on NSD, but he ended up signing with Washington. Has backed up Keith Price and looked good taking over for him late in the year when Price was injured. Will not enjoy facing him the next couple of years. Zac Robinson part two imo.
    2. Joey O'Connor - OL - Ohio State - Transferred to CSU after redshirting at OSU. Has since been forced to retire due to chronic knee issues.
    3. Paul Thurston - OL - Nebraksa - Redshirted his first year and did not see the field last season.
    4. Shane Callahan - OL - Auburn - Redshirted his first year and was not listed on the national runner-up's depth chart this last season. Will hopefully transfer to CU in the summer and sit out a year due to transfer rules.
    5. Alex Kozan - OL - Auburn - Redshirted his first year and started last year on the national runner-up team.

    2013
    1. Chris Fox - OL - Michigan - redshirted his first year on campus
    2. Mitch Parsons - TE - Vanderbilt - redshirted his first year on campus
    3. Luke Del Rio - QB - Alabama - redshirted his first year on campus and decided to transfer to Oregon State
    4. Dan Skipper - OL - Arkansas - Played in every game for Arkansas, including starting the last 8.
    5. Phillip Lindsay - RB - Colorado - redshirted his first year on campus

I think pulling 5 of the top 10 CO kids every year is a reasonable expectation. Of course, each individual is different, but CU should get the majority of the best in-state players. Hopefully we'll get there within the next couple of years.

I thought Skipper was supposed to be a raw talent. I know Arkansas struggled this year, but pretty impressive for him to get that much playing time as a true frosh. I hope Lindsay is fully healed from his ACL tear. Would be great to see him on the field.

Here is the thing though about that list, there are OL galore who are at least on travelling squads. The bottom half of our travelling squad has been terrible for years. Difference between quality depth and pure numbers at a position.

There were a couple reports he might transfer to CMU, but he never enrolled or showed up for a practice here. I think the last thread we had about him, somebody reported they had come up against him in a semi-pro game or something?

Dan Skipper started at Guard which was a surprise to me. Bending well for a tall guy. The argument was that he was too tall to play on the Offensive line. Looked good to me lol.

Spoke with Milo Hall. 2015 Cherry Creek RB had 1,800+ all-purpose yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior despite splitting carries with Nate Starks. Hall will be at CU's junior day and is very high on the Buffs. Said his dream school is CU and he wants to be a Buff. Working on a story.

DBT, the hidden meaning of the title is a play on "right foot" since we all know that Oliver and O'Neil are graduating this year, and we have only a left-footed soccer player left on the roster. Diego wassiz-name from Mexico. Hence the obvious deduction is, we need more kickers and punters in 2015, preferably those that can kick with both feet.

Milo is really, really quick. He was actually Creeks feature running back this year. People thought that Nate Starks was all great and stuff but Milo got more touches and performed at a higher level than Nate even when Nate finally became eligible. Milo was the starter from day one and remained the starter the entire year. The only problem though is that he's really small. He's listed at 5'7 170lbs on the creek maxpreps page.

I'm not worried about the size at all, but does anybody else think he kinda lacks top end speed? After the first few steps, he doesn't look noticeably faster than everybody on the field.

He's definitely a quicker than fast type player as of now, but I guess we'll find out if he's improved any on his top end speed. He ran a 11.18 in the 100 meter dash last year as a sophomore.

This is the part of our failure in Colorado that bothers me the most. If we had even some of the quality OL players who have gone elsewhere it is reasonable to say that we would be better on the LOS. It's amazing much better RBs and QBs look when the line is better able to block for them.

Really hope (not a strategy) that some grays and reds from last class will surprise this year. Loved that Huckins kid, but have not heard much per his progression. Nasty attitude and likes to dig people into the dirt at prep level. Really could use a positive development here as you are spot on Mtn.

Got that Milo Hall story up. His 7-on-7 team is loaded. March 14-16.
