National kid. Top 10 talent (although Yung last night said he might be "THE top talent" in the class of 2016. He's that good). He's going to have his pick of going anywhere in the nation, so it's going to be a battle for Tad to keep him home. It's going to be a battle, so let's hope that Tad and company can pull it off.

Feels odd that we could be discussing a kid that hasn't played a second of high school basketball but here is some public content on him from the recent Adidas tournament and if you want to see a short bit of the talent this kid has watch from 0:13 to 0:26.

I can't even imagine being crushed in basketball by a middle-schooler if I was a college prospect. I would take a one year rental on this kid.

My God. He's a middle schooler with two college offers. Unbelievable.

He looks physically dominating already. A 6'9 Middle schooler, how many more inches is this kid going to grow!? Tad better get on him early and stay on him. We have to keep this talent in-state.

That's the key. We've got 3 seasons to show consistent success. For someone De'Ron's age, those 5 straight years of being a really solid program will seem like we've been good forever. Weird to think of it, but Alec Burks will be on his 2nd NBA contract by then.

Adam with the update (including a new offer -- this one from Arkansas).

He sounds like a fantastic prospect, and I hope we get a shot at signing him. That said, I continue to be uncomfortable talking about the recruiting prospects of a 14-year old.

But, it is easier to tell who is going to be good at basketball
at a young age. Unlike football where it is harder to tell.

My qualm is more of a moralistic quandary, I have no doubt he's going to be special. I'm just uncomfortable with the pursuit of 14yr-olds. I'll check back in a few years.

Most guys that tall at that age are awkward in their movements and aside from their height do not add much in vertical leaping ability. Davis appears agile and jumping the rest of these guys out of the gym. Seems to offer much more in skill set than just his height, and that's worth making him our priority for the class of '16 at the moment, if our staff is doing such things.

True those kids are the ones that grow six inches in a summer and try to grow into their bodies, he seems very comfortable.

If the kid has special talents, go after him. Get him to your camps and try to limit the nasty influences of the AAU as much as possible. Hopefully the Hawks have good influences. Is that Chauncey's AAU team?

Imagine this skill set with the ups he has with a 7'4" height.

You would have to eat a lot of grape Popsicles for that to happen. Challenge accepted.

    Kid looks great!

But, I'm not sure if I like the idea of going down the "one and done" road, though! Would rather see a bunch of very good players develop into a great college team than a string of OAD mercenaries.

Just like we need to get Perkins and Collier, we really need to get Davis. However, I think getting Davis will be harder, because he will be an elite recruit it seems.

Getting one and done's is not a bad thing. A program such as CU cannot build a program off of them like UK, but Boyle hasn't done that. Getting an elite player for a year when you have a set system can greatly help you. Duke fans do not regret the year they had with Irving. Texas doesn't regret Durant. many other examples. In fact, CU getting a one and done can sort of be looked at as if our bball program has finally arrived to an extent.

If the NBA did not have their stupid requirement, would he be one that goes straight to the NBA out of HS?

there is still a lot of time between now and 2016, but if he continues to progress you would have to think so.

Not only that but we've pretty much already had one in Carlon who transferred and was only able to play for us one year. Helped us get farther than we have in a long time. I'd do it again in a heartbeat

I'm OK with one and dones once in a while, as long as it doesn't become the norm like at Kentucky. Those teams have no soul.

Also, remember, Carlon sat out a year here first, and was an integral part of the team before he ever stepped on the court for a game as a Buff. Almost all one and dones are just that - one year and done, not two years like the CB transfer.

Having to worry about some CU recruits being one-and-done would be a good problem to have.

Hopefully he becomes a legitimate 6'11" or 7 foot guy by the time he becomes a Senior. He is a must get for Tad Boyle.
