'17 CA DE Jacob Callier (Signed to COLORADO)

Awesome. Great addition to the class. Finish strong guys! Welcome to the Buffs young Mr. Callier

I like this. His body type provides a lot of versatility if he is still growing, slims, or puts on weight.

Welcome!

When you've got the #1 defense in the Pac-12, it makes sense that someone from CA averaging a sack a game in the best HS league in the nation (for the nation's #4 ranked HS team) chooses to play for you. Good choice by Jacob. He'll terrorize Pac-12 QBs in this system.

This signing seems similar to the Broncos finding a couple of unsung SEC LB'ers in Woodyard and Trevathan. Both were overlooked due to concerns over their size, but they both led the top conference in the country in tackles and it translated to the NFL. In Callier's case, I don't think he has the length some programs were looking for, but he uses his hands well, has the short area burst and has dominated at the highest levels of competition. That should translate.

Nice pickup, and he is having an excellent season so far on a #4 nationally ranked team in arguably the best overall HS league in the country. I know a lot of Bosco people, and they have good things to say about this kid.

He isn't tall and may not be fast in a 40 but he looks very strong and playing on the LOS he will rarely run 40 yards, more important is his quickness over 10-20 yards. If JL thinks he has that kind of quickness I'll go with it, he knows a lot more about it than all of us combined.

And I don't care if he ever plays in the NFL as long as he wins us some games in the PAC.

I think CU's plan with him should be to add some weight and play him inside/interior DL or DE. He's plays strong, good hand strength. Not sure there is enough speed to line up on the outside but with some added weight, could give interior OL fits with his quickness, leverage and strength. Seems to have a nose for the ball which is nice. Solid add.

Welcome to the herd, Jacob.
Nice call, coming to Boulder.
