1990 All-American OL Joe Garten wants to coach

Garten would be in his early to mid 40's by now. That is getting a very late start on the coaching game. He's been out of the game for at least 10 years. I'd love to see him realize his dream, but he's got a lot of work to do. I suspect the best thing for him to to would be to get involved with a local high school or junior college, and get the ball rolling.

The talking heads on MNF were going over Mike Singletary's return to the game. After he retired, he stayed away from the game for more than a decade, choosing instead to just be a Dad and raise his family.

Point is, I suppose you can return and be successful if you have the passion to do so. Good luck to Joe whatever he decides.

I really like former college players with LOTS of NFL experience as positional coaches.

Great Buff, his NFL career was doomed by a knee injury

I'd have him back in a second. I think we could have him as an intern (a la Ambrose) for a year, then have him supplant Denver J. or whoever.

Brad Bedell's in the mix to be our next OL Coach.

His profile at UNC makes me think he finally finished up his degree this summer. Hopefully he does a good job for UNC this year and we have a hot OL Coach in the pipeline.

(Taking nothing away from Garten. But he's not even coaching yet.)
