I was looking back at the last 3 games, EWU, CSU, and Bama from last year.

I'm noticing a trend where we play completely ****ty in the first half and then a whole lot better in the 2nd. Especially on Defense, my prime example being 9 points allowed in the combined 2nd halves vs 62 points allowed in the 1st.

I know its not how you start but how you finish, but jesus christ guys, get some coffee for that first half.

Go back another game, to the *ebraska game for further evidence of this trend.

Yes, I noticed it too. Whether we're wearing down the opponents in the 2nd half, or just sleepwalking through the first half, I don't know. Maybe we're making really good halftime adjustments. :smile2:

I was thinking the same thing...if we would play as well in the 1st half as we do in the 2nd half we'd be golden.

At least its not the other way around, we build up a solid lead or have a minimal defecit going into the locker room and we totally explode in the 2nd half. It could be we blow up in the first half and the 2nd half we play like dog **** and give up tons of points. I would much rather us be a whole game team as opposed to a 2nd half team.

I agree....as much as I love Coach Hawk...i sometimes feel that we aren't completely prepared right out the gate

Overall it is much better to be a strong fourth quarter team. (Remember Iowa State?) But, the Buffs will have a tough time against future opponents digging out of a 14 point hole. They don't sem to do a real good job attacking a defense early in games and that is primarily game planning. Hopefully we will see improvement in this.

I saw a team in the 1st half not play with much emotion, confusion on the O line, and stupid mental mistakes. Their second pocession in the second half appeared to be when the wake up call began.

Up until the nebraska game, last year, we were an absolute disaster in the thrid quarter. I don't have stats in front of me, but the number of points by which we were outscored was :jawdrop:.

I like being a second-half team better. Howzabout a whole game?

Also Oklahoma last year. We got way behind early and came back in the second half.

On the other hand when we do play well early (ISU and ASU last year and Georgia the year before), we somehow seem to be worse in the second half. We just need to learn how to play 60 minutes.

Well said, that is how I feel. We have look lethargic the past two games. Love coach Hawk but there is something that is not clicking in the first half and that won't work against the next four opponents.

It seems like we start strong on the road, and start slow at home. Collapse at the end on the road and finish strong at home. I agree about the next 4 or even 5 opponents.
