What was the average 3rd down distance? 12 yards?
The O-line didn't do anyone any favors last night. As I told someone last night. Those player's are lucky they aren't getting paid because if they were they would be looking for new jobs this morning.
good point about 3rd and forever skibum.
by comparison, UH was 50% on 3rd down.
Yeah. Embree said it right in the post-game interview:
"We are not talented enough to be in 2nd and 3rd and long. We would make plays and get rolling, then have a penalty or a silly 6 yard loss. We can't win games like that"
Not and exact quote, but something like it
there's a word for it Dio: paraphrase.
we've been doing that for years.....penalty and sack into 3rd and forever. drive killers. short field givers. no rest for the D etc.
jump offsides on 3rd and 2, delay of game, Cody gets sacked on 3rd down out of FG range....team needs to get better at situation football. my old, hardass baseball coach used to call that mental mistakes.
Once the chance fo a bowl game goes out the window. I hope that the younger guys get the majority of the playing time to prepare them for next year.
Is it me or did the playcalling have no rhythm to it to start the game?
Tough to get momentum when your line can't block a high school team and every tie something good did happen there was a penalty called. I do wish EB would have kept calling the screen though.
