2013-2014 Bracketology

EBracket = Computer/innerwebz geek extraordinaire!

Bored of the new Star Trek movie (after seeing it ten times!) and now that "The Big Bang Theory" is in re-runs, he's trying his hand at the sports version of geek-ology, "bracketology", only with a huge bias toward ASU. Gotta love it!

Geeks only "get" stats and Roberson's name shows up in the NCAA stats; Dinwiddie and Scott not so much. While we all love Dre, many of us who actually watch and understand BB, think CU's chances next year may actually be better with Dre plying his trade in the D league or Europe. His boards will be taken up by Scott,XJ and Gordon. While his scoring will easily be exceeded by any number of Tad's frosh combos.

Sorry, geek, No brackets for you!

New guy with a website, to restate what we have already so crudely stated: You are generating discussion without the requisite knowledge of the Pac12 to back it up. You use terms like "stud" in an attempt to hide the fact you are going off nothing more than name recognition of those you have caught in an espn story along with scoring per game and other basic stats that don't reveal the whole picture. As has been pointed out repeatedly, your dismissal of the Mayor (or Mr. Dinwiddie to you) is basically the beginning and the end of all we need to know about your "analysis."

For instance, the Mayor had a bigger win share % than Andre Roberson and his Adjusted +/- and general offensive anything is, by far, the highest on the team. Source? JGisland's excellent compilation on this very website: http://www.allbuffs.com/showthread....in-Shares-and-Adjusted-for-the-last-5-seasons. And that's not even counting the intangibles that Tad Boyle brings to the table or the fact that for the very first time in his tenure at CU, he won't be replacing the near entirety of his starting lineup.

Now, please compare that with your boy Jahii Carson's stuff, since that's all you need to make this call, apparently.
Let's make this really easy. Carson was worth 4.6 win shares last year, Bachynski 3.1 and Gilling 3.5 for ASU last year. In comparison, Dinwiddie earned 5.5 win shares (now who's the stud?), Scott earned 3.4 and XJ 2.4 win shares. It looks to me like the Buffs top 3 earned a combined 11.3 win shares least year vs. 11.2 for ASU. Considering CU is deeper, with a better incoming recruiting class, its pretty clear who the superior team is.

Taking this one step further, Booker earned 2.2 win shares last year, while ASU returns no one else over 1.0.

And you shouldn't label an outsider trying to promote discussion as spam.

Well you commented on a fan site for a team that is almost universally considered a tourney lock and you expect open arms? I'll give you this, it created a fun conversation.

I think your problem is adding too much of your own relatively uninformed opinion to your bracketology. I say relative because you probably know more about all the teams out there than most people, but you can't be an expert on everyone. When you take a distant look at CU last year you saw an inconsistent team with a star defensive guy in Roberson, and a solid pair of guards. You might have missed the lack of depth on the team and the talent that redshirted in preparation to give next year's team better depth than ever. You probably undervalued the growth of a couple freshmen players that showed an extremely high ceiling.

Star power is a tough wild card in college bball. The best player on the best teams deserves to be a star, but which came first, the chicken or the egg? In many ways Dinwiddie was overshadows by Roberson to those outside the immediate CU circle, thereby preventing a chunk of praises. Next year he'll gain the status of a star and be supported by a better cast of players, thus why it seems ridiculous to leave them outside the bubble.

This is one of the funniest threads I have read on AB in a long time.
You guys are studs.
