With tomorrow being the start of the early signing period, thought I'd start this thread to post any news (tweets, articles, pictures, videos, etc.) of future Olympic Sport Buffs officially signing their National Letters of Intents (NLI's).

The main purpose of this thread is NOT to post news of newly found commitments, which is already found in the http://www.allbuffs.com/threads/recruiting-news-olympic-sports.101643/ thread . However, If any new recruits do pop up during the signing process, especially during the early signing days, I'll probably post them both places. Of course, if anyone else finds any news, y’all are also welcome to also post here. Although I'm starting this thread right before the start of the early signing period, I plan on using this thread to report on 2017 class signings throughout the signing periods.

As noted in the above linked recruiting thread, signing dates for the Olympic sports are:
For all but soccer, Olympic sport NCAA formal signing periods are:
Early Signing Period: November 9 -November 16, 2016 (Same as basketball)
Regular Signing Period: April 12 - August 1, 2017

Soccer only has one signing period- Feb. 1, (same as football) through August 1st 2017

So, the 1st official day of the early signing period is tomorrow (except for soccer), so hopefully there will be news starting tomorrow morning.

___________________________________________________________________

For ease of reference, from the main recruiting thread, expected commitments for next academic year (2017/18) we know about so far that could be signing as early as tomorrow are:
(Note- it seems team sport athletes commit and in many cases sign much earlier than those in individual sports, so expect more individual sport athletes to become known and sign as the year goes on. Also, of course, circumstances change, so assume some verbal commits listed below below may not end up as Buffs.) :

Sorry for the late start (late night)- just starting to go through social media, and found the 1st tweet with signing news; looks like volleyball's top ranked commit is now officially a Buff. Official welcome to Ms. Newsome!

Official signing announcement for volleyball, and it looks like all the expected student/ athletes are formally committed. In addition to the aforementioned Ms. Newsome, looks like Danielle Price and Anyse Smith are now officially signed. Welcome and congrats to both!

(Assume Ms. DeLuzio was not mentioned since she may be a walk-on, as many/ most potential defensive specialists/ liberos typically are.?.)

1st previously unknown commit (as usual, in track and field) I've found that signed with the Buffs- welcome and congrats to hurdler Aaron McCoy from Cañon City High School! (I'll add more info on him in the recruiting thread.)

As I just mentioned in the recruiting thread, some friends of his have been congratulating sprinter Jon Maas from from Tom Clark HS in San Antonio TX on signing with the Buffs. I have now found the below tweet confirming his signing. Again, welcome and congrats to him!

Looks like we have a previously unknown 2017 lacrosse commit and NLI signer- welcome to defender/ midfielder*** Eliza Cahill from the Woodlands (Texas) HS!

(As before, more detail on her will be added to the recruit thread.)

***Edit- I am seeing different sources, some that list Ms. Cahill as a midfielder, others as a defender.

Looks like men's golf has signed a couple young men from in-state. (I didn't have any knowledge of their commitment previously, so will add more about them in the recruiting thread when I have the time.)

Welcome and congrats to Mr's. Olkowski and Krantz!

Looks like Kent Denver midfielder Madi Wifall signed her NLI to join the lacrosse team. Welcome and congrats to her!

Just bumping this thread with the soccer signing period beginning tomorrow.

If there are no surprises (which in these lower profile sports is always very possible), I think we know of 5 young soccer players (see OP) who might officially sign NLI's to become Buffs tomorrow (assuming one or more aren't walk-ons, in which case we might hear about them later). The 5 does not include Kiwi freshman Martine (Marty) Pukepatu, who as an official early-enrollee is already in classes and I assume training with the team.

Note- I will be in travel mode for at least a good part of the 1st, so may not always be able to provide timely updates.

Maybe something that many of our Olympic sports can use as part of the recruiting pitch?

P.S. Having met a lot of you alums, let's just say that I feel sorry for the young women who go to #4. :p

2 (expected) freshmen formally on board so far, along with a transfer I didn't know about. Welcome and congrats to all announced so far!

(I'm boarding a plane pretty soon, so won't be able to update any additional signings for quite awhile.)

2 more young women are now officially Buffs!

(Although I compile the lists, hadn't connected with me before how Colorado strong this class of soccer Buffs is. All 4 frosh signers so far hail from the Centennial State.)

A Buffalo stampede in Boulder - From Top Drawer Soccer:

"If men’s Signing Day is predictable, the women’s side is positively boring. It’s exceedingly rare that a women’s player doesn’t follow through on a pledge for one reason or another, and Signing Day is mostly a foregone conclusion. But every once in a while you get a shock, and Colorado delivered us one on Wednesday in the form of Jorian Baucom.

Baucom had been one of the best players in the SEC with LSU, where she led the conference in scoring in each of her three seasons in college. But Colorado somehow managed to flip Baucom to Boulder with a year of eligibility left. Entering his sixth season in Boulder, coach Danny Sanchez has had success after success on the recruiting trail in the last few years, and a well-regarded underclassman nucleus is now bolstered by Baucom, who should be the most dangerous goal-scorer in the Pac-12 off the bat. The conference may mostly belong to UCLA, Stanford and defending champion USC, but don’t sleep on Colorado, which just got a lot better really fast."

As the current Buff track and field team starts the meat of its season, there's also some team news for the future as the regular signing period began today.
  • Congrats to 400M hurdler/ runner Nathan Hoy for signing with the Buffs!

  • And, although her school's signing ceremony isn't until later today, assume the below has to be a good sign that hurdler/ sprinter/ long jumper Valerie Welch will soon be a Buff!

Just to complete the prologue of Ms. Welch's Buff story, she is now officially signed.

Just was updating the lacrosse list of commitments for the Olympic Sport recruiting thread, and noticed there were six (out of ten total) 2017’ commits I still had as verbal only. Went in and did a Google search, and did find support that four of the six had signed with the Buffs sometime in either the early or normal signing periods. (The remaining two could very well also have signed; just can’t find anything via Google.)

Official congrats and welcome to the following future Buff lacrosse players***!!!!-

Aine Williams – Per http://hingham.wickedlocal.com/sports/20161117/three-nda-seniors-from-hingham-sign-lax-nli

(***Note- One trivia thing I learned doing this process- always looking for different names/ titles for athletes of different sports (my favorite probably for some reason being "harriers" for cross country runners), came upon an article that if I remember right used the term"Sticksters" in the article title for lacrosse players. I may have to start using that if it's not too obscure.)
