2017: Recruiting News, Notes & Official Visitors

A little more on the 3rd La Mirada HS offer today noted in a tweet in an earlier post, CB/ WR Elijah Hicks.
(Warning for anyone looking for more info- There appears to be a player by the same name who plays in Las Vegas. Hopefully the links below are all to the right player.)

One more offer, this time to DB/ QB Trajon Cotton from Inderkum High School, Sacramento, CA. (appears he'll probably be an "Athlete" for college recruiting purposes, with his being named (per his twitter) "All Metro" as a safety.)

(At least) 2 more offers evidently made this morning-

1) To already committed (To Oklahoma) safety Robert Barnes from Carroll High School, Southlake, TX.

http://247sports.com/Player/Robert-Barnes-81947 (For what it's worth, they list him as a "Hard" Oklahoma commit. They show him with 12 offers (not including CU's), with all being to P5 conference schools.)

2) Buffs have also offered already BIG (300 lb.) DT Deiontae Watts from Plano East High School, Plano, TX.

The 2017 offer list is a mile long already and Rivals hasn't even gotten all the updates in. There might have been 50 this week.

https://colorado.rivals.com/offerlist.asp

What I love about that list is the focus: very concentrated with CA, TX, CO along with FL, GA, UT, LA, AZ, NV and HI/Samoa. One outlier in AL, but this year seems to be reflecting the defined footprint better than what we've seen in years. And going very strongly into TX.

Looks like the Buffs made another offer a few days ago- this one to athlete (WR/ DB) Paulson (***and/ or Saiid) Adebo from Mansfield High Varsity Football, Mansfield, TX.
(***HUDL, 247 and most articles I could find have Saiid as his 1st name; his twitter ( https://twitter.com/yg_3x ) and Rivals, among others, use Paulson.)

http://247sports.com/Player/Saiid-Adebo-83549 (7 offers- All but SMU being from P5 schools, includes Oklahoma.).
https://sports.yahoo.com/tcu/football/recruiting/player-Paulson-Adebo-171968

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3938142/highlights

Edit- Found an article (that was naming the All (Dallas) Area team for the year with a little more on him- http://sportsday.dallasnews.com/hig...15-area-defense-first-second-team-player-year
Quoting from that article- "
DB Saiid Adebo- Mansfield, Jr.
Ht., Wt.: 6-2, 185

About Adebo: As the season progressed, Adebo rarely left the field, helping Mansfield to the 8-6A title and a trip to the Class 6A Division I semifinals. The cornerback had 75 tackles, a team-high five interceptions - returning two of them for touchdowns - and 12 pass break-ups. He was also Mansfield's leading receiver, with 41 catches for 730 yards and 11 TDs.

What's next? The junior is set to see his recruitment pick up dramatically in the off-season. He already holds offers from Oklahoma, Arkansas and others.

Go bowling and this could be a monster class. Looking like HCMM finally has the horses he needs on the recruiting trail.

QB, TE, interior OL, DL, OLB, S, and K look to be the "need" positions in 2017. I would expect the coaches to sign a balanced class, but will be very picky at RB, WR, OT, and CB.

Need at least one immediate impact type player at QB, OL, DL, and S. Interested in seeing what happens at kicker because I thought that Kinney was supposed to be a pretty good FG kicker coming out of HS, he just never got the opportunity to because Neinas wanted to "limit reps" for whatever reason.

I thought he was mainly being brought in for Punting duties?

Buffs evidently become the latest to offer Safety Josh Talbott of Long Beach Polytechnic High School (CA). (Thanks to Buffnik for the retweet with the #Gobuffs hash.)

http://247sports.com/Recruitment/Josh-Talbott-90708/RecruitInterests (Per 247, Buffs are 4th offer, joining UCLA, WSU and T A&M. ESPN and Rivals also showing GA Tech offer.)

Cannot overstate how important it is for CU to get back into So Cal. In 2017, not some nebulous future date. We have been lapped by the rest of the conference in that regard.

Long Beach Poly, St. John Bosco, Servite, Serra, and other powerhouses need to be mainstays in our recruiting going forward.

The coaches have definitely been recruiting Keene. Will be interesting to see if he gets an offer.

What position would to suspect? He is complete meh, IMO.

I think as a TE. I honestly think he could be a decent DE down the road.

Believe he was at the USC game in November and Neinas was his lead recruiter. Not sure who has taken the lead now.

Hopefully he plays some TE this year, instead of RB. We had a pretty good defense, but he was a non-factor against us last season. Big kid that runs hard, but not even close to P5 level. Chatfield is also moving to 4a next season. Level of competition could be a concern.

Yeah, no way he is a running back. Interesting on Chatfield dropping to 4A, never envisioned anything like that when I was there.

Yeah, they are completely realigning the classifications for this next season. For 5a, they went to a waterfall format that spreads the teams out into leagues based on their winning percentage the last 2 years, and going to a 16 team playoff instead of 32. To get even numbers they had to drop a few teams.

Back on track, it will be interesting to watch the kid's recruitment.

Dalton Keene said this, FWIW. “There are some schools I definitely like,” he said. “I grew up a CSU fan. I’m not sure what I want to do. Stay instate or go out of state, but I’ve always been a pretty big CSU fan."
