    Thoughts I have:
    1. **** the NCAA selection committee.
2: I like the new staff on practice day.
    3. Great day for practice. Spring, blustery, but more or less warm and fun.
    4. Good to see some AB there. Nik and BCS will prob add some points of their own.

Damn, what a difference from last few years. Coaches are much more involved and louder. Lots of time spent on special teams. Kicking and long snapping are very iffy right now. Eep.

Embree has lost his voice. 3 practices in . It is gonna be a long spring for him! Lots of tearing into guys for screwing up, but also encouragement and validation when something good happened.

Very intense practice. Swearing, etc. No fights, but a lot of effort and some serious physical play. Great to see. Every single coach was heavily involved when they had the O and D drills going. It was loud.

EB looks like hes been doing this for years. Very composed, no delays, all over his guys when they make a mistake. He has a presence on the field.

Every single play our D would try and rip the ball out, even after the whistle. EB remembers his fumble problems I guess

Post practice, lot of extra work by unit/individuals. punishment was handed out to units, not individuals.

In general, the whole team looks much stronger in the upper body, especially arm wise. Harris is shockingly big. Clemons looks like he could pop apples with his biceps

The QB battle looks to be well in TH hands. He looks damn good. #2 is (for now) Hirschman.
Burnette looked ok, solid backup plan.

Speedy is looking good... Tony Jones looks bad ass. Feeling pretty good about those 2 at RB. Both broke long runs.

Clemons looks good, Prich seems primed to pick up where he left off, and Willjef, tho slowed by injury, was impressive at parts.

Bakhtiari was not bothered on the left side of the line.

Our LB corps looks small except for a few guys (Major, Webb, Rippy). Webb is definitely going to be our starting MLB.

Kasa looks pretty damn quick and does well at DE.

Conrad Obi put in extra work after practice, and looks to be ready to finally contribute close to what we hoped for.

    Bonsu is also looking strong.

Lots of two TE sets, both Deehan and Devaugn had some really nice plays.

starting WR corp resembles a mash unit with both willjeff and clemons dinged up. Very very thin at WR.

Espy had a damn good day. I hate saying that. He catches with his hands, and looks good on slant routes.

We like the slant route. A lot.

The routes we ran seemed a lot more cohesive and complimentary now.

Lots of waggle/roll out plays. TH kills it on the run accuracy wise.

    Cunningham is very disruptive.

No quentin hildreth sighting. Is he gone? Rumors?

Lots more parents/friends/other family here then past years as far as I remember. Also, saw a recruit drop by and talk to Tui and Kanavis. Don't know who.

I will add more as my foggy brain remembers.

Hildreth fumbled a few times, i belive JE benched him. I could recognize a few guys yesterday, did you see Max Mariner practice, who is running with first teamers and second teamers on both side of the ball.

No MTM sighting, doesn't mean he wasn't there.
First team on D depended on the formation... looked like hartigan was a starting nickel LB with major. nickel DB was sandersfield. Starting DBs at end of practice were Polk at S, Deji and Bell at CB. I think Makiri is right there with both of them. Hawkins 2d string. Struggling with the other S.

Perkins was there (#7 now) but no pads and knee wrapped. Lockridge was dinged up, but was managing the RBs during the scrimmage portions.

End of practice Embree quote: "If you are hurt, you better show up for treatment at 6:30 AM, or you better show up at practice not hurt."

Sounds like we are going to get a lot more practice in, not because of more time, just because of much more efficient use of practice time. No standing around, no confusion or lagging between practice segments. Business like and serious, you play like you practice and unfortunately our practice the past 5 years has been a joke.

Although there was a significant % of the team standing around during the special teams/scrimmage drills, all the position drills were higher paced, involved more physicality, and involved more players. I will never forget our every single player on our O line except for the 2 guys involved in the specific drill spending their entire sep position drill time standing around while 2 guys went at it. some guys only got to go once!

#9 on Offense is Tyler hansen, wait let me look it up, going to cubuffs.com-sports-football-depth chart, no #9 on defense, maybe #94, Nate Bonsu.

Really great to see Embree's squad in action today. Very impressive practice management.

A few things that stood out to me:

    - Our long snapping is not good. The worst part of this is that our punter and kicker need a lot of work. It's impossible for them to get into a rhythm when long snaps are over the head or in the dirt half the time and when short snaps are bouncing to the holder or are way off target.

    - Jered Bell is probably our best corner right now. Pugh and Deji look like they're the next best. It was nice to see Cha'pelle Brown there coaching up the DBs as a grad assistant.

    - Tight End looks really good in the 2 deep. Deehan was catching everything and Thornton is a weapon down the seam. But with us running a lot of 2 TE sets, we need more depth. Slavin and/or Griffon need to step up. Mobley is being held out with an undisclosed disciplinary issue. Right now, Fernandez appears to be our #3 TE.

    - Tony Jones is the real deal.

Snow pretty much covered it. All in all, a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

bcs, I was glad to meet your dad. Good guy. Makes me think there's hope for you. :wink2:

The long snapping woes are definitely a concern.

Cannot wait to see Tony Jones on the field come September.

More confirmation that practice is more "intense" from the players POV as well:

all the players that walked by were talking about how wiped they were. It was interesting to see. Rippy was just shaking his head.

There's almost no standing around. Quickly from drill to drill, from to group to group. That 2 hours went fast as a spectator. I bet it was rough on the players.

I check daily, it's become my daily mantra: please don't let J.J. play anywhere else but CU.

So far, he has not named where he will go to college. Profile

This is funny. After the 3d or 4th bad snap in a row, I turned directly to nik and asked him the same thing

But did you give the punter a little credit for getting a couple of those punts off his foot - and producing surprisingly good punts - despite scooping the ball up off the ground, or chasing it after it went over his head?

Fascinated that Embree is putting his biggest guys to block for the punter now.

    MFing this.

It'd be awesome to not have to worry about LSing for 4 years. How many kickers do we have on the roster to not have a LS on scholly?

Gentlemen, forget QB. Train your kid to long snap. Get a college schollie and if they are lucky they get a Mike Leach type job where you snap for 10+ years in the league.

Ringo's tweets say Lovett is getting a good grasp of the new playbook early on. Also said Coach Uzelac is really instilling mental toughness in his players.
