I wanted to compile things here and let everyone know that AllBuffs and some of the other sites with which we are friendly have been working on some things to support the basketball programs.

Let's get organized and start discussing what we can do together and individually to help Tad and Linda build a hoops powerhouse at CU.

The 4-Point Initiative is as follows:

    1. Buff Madness

When: Friday, October 12th at 8:30pm
    Where: Coors Event Center
What: Scrimmages, contests, giveaways and more
    Cost: Free

If you can get there early, there's also a Volleyball game against ASU starting at 7pm.

Beyond showing up and inviting a friend or three to come with you, please also go to the Facebook pages for the Men's and Women's teams and "Like" them.

    Men's page: https://www.facebook.com/cubuffsmbb
    Women's page: https://www.facebook.com/cubuffswbb

There is more detail and discussion on this topic in 2 active AllBuffs threads:

    http://www.allbuffs.com/showthread.php/78825-BuffsMadness-officially-announced-for-October-12th
    http://www.allbuffs.com/showthread....the-CU-Hoops-Facebook-Pages-for-Buffs-Madness

    2) Basketball Excellence Fund

This was a new way to donate that was started in the past year. Unlike general donations to the AD, which are vital, this allows people to target their donations to support specific programs. In the case of men's basketball, money into this fund gives Tad flexibility and resources for where he needs it. This could be compensation for assistant coaches, practice equipment, strength & conditioning equipment, recruiting travel or hosting, scouting, or wherever he sees a need.

If you go to the Donor Net web site, http://www.cubuffs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?&&DB_OEM_ID=600&ATCLID=1613923 , you'll be able to register an account if you don't currently have one. There are numerous opportunities to direct donations to specific initiatives.

Unfortunately, the web site does not include this fund in its Pledge Category drop down menu when you get to the donation page. You're going to have to call them.

You may call in with your donation at 303-492-2200 or 800-621-2833.

As a side note, I was able to confirm that if you call them up they are also set up to take small donations. If you can only give 5 bucks, they can accept that. If you want to donate to either this fund or others through a manageable recurring donation, they can make that happen. For example, maybe you can't swing $120 in one shot but would be comfortable with your credit card being hit for $10 every month for the year. They can make that happen.

    3) Attendance at the Home Opener

    When: Friday, November 9th @ 5:00 pm
    Where: Coors Event Center
Who: Wofford College (not a patsy - they've averaged 22 wins over the past 3 seasons)

This is a challenging start time for a game. People have work obligations that make this difficult, especially if you're coming a distance.

If you can possibly make it, it's vital that we show up for this one and tip off the season right.

If there are people you know who might be interested in going to the game, make sure you get the word out. Single game tickets are an incredible value and it's going to be a fun night as we start the new year for our defending Pac-12 Champion team.

Last, if you can't use your tickets please make sure to post here and whatever other message boards you frequent so that we can do all we can to make sure they are used by Buff fans and we pack the Keg that night.

    4) Season Ticket Drive

For the women's program, there are a lot of passionate fans that formed a solid season ticket base during the Ceal Barry era. Many left in protest under Kathy McConnell-Miller. With Barry protege Linda Lappe entering her 3rd year and showing both on-court and recruiting success, it's past time to get the word out to the fans we've lost and the other fans who don't have tickets.

The web site for new season ticket deposits for WBB doesn't seem to be up yet, but here it is: http://ev12.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncom...kID=colorado&shopperContext=&caller=&appCode=

For the men's program, the season ticket base has expanded to the point where it's getting hard to get seats to games. Without season tickets, individual game tickets can be hard to come by or are selling for inflated prices on the secondary markets. If you or someone you know has been sitting on the fence, the time is now to lock in your seats before you miss the opportunity. Further, we want to make damn sure that our home advantage is locked in this season and there isn't the opportunity for KU fans to buy up our season tickets next year so they can have seats and take over the arena next season for the one game they'll go to against the Jayhawks. Back-to-back 24-win seasons, Pac-12 Champions, an NCAA Tournament win, and a chance to see 6 new freshmen from a Top 25 recruiting class. This is now one of the top rising programs in the nation and we need to do our part to take it to the next level.

You can put in your season ticket deposits and get on the wait list here: http://ev12.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncom...kID=colorado&shopperContext=&caller=&appCode=

People can also call for either program: 303-492-8337

If someone isn't ready to buy season tickets, make the effort to extend invites to single games. CU Basketball, whether season tickets or individual games is the best bang-for-your buck sports entertainment value on the front range. Let's create the best home court advantage in the West.

    ************************************

Let's use this thread to share ideas, confirm attendance, let people know if you have any tickets available, and let people know if you've donated.

I just donated to the Basketball Excellence Fund.
I will definitely be at Buff Madness.
I'm in for the Wofford game (expecting to make it a +2)
I am not a WBB season ticket holder, but I want to pick a few games this year to hit with some of you guys

    Damn. Rep.

I will DEFINITELY be there for Buffs Madness.
I will be there for the Wofford game and the Swan should be joining me.
I am not currently a WBB season ticket holder, but there are a few games that I'm hoping to go to (including the CSU doubleheader!)
I donated to the Basketball Excellence Fund.

Thanks. Was I thinking about 2010? That team is always a solid small conference program that can put a scare into the big boys.

BTW, I just talked to someone at the CU Foundation about the Basketball Excellence Fund. If you're having a hard time donating because of the website (as some have previously), you can also drop them an email at buffclub@cufund.org . Seriously, even $5 or $10 makes a difference -- it all adds up.

Wofford is a solid team. Got some size, physicality. It's going to be a clash of styles.

As Nik mentioned there is no minimum they are also set up to monthly donations if you want to to do something small every month and have it add up over the course of a year.

I'll be there for Buffs Madness no question.
Obviously going to the Wofford game.
I just bought season tickets for MBB, not WBB yet though.
Donated $100 to the fund and I'm finding other people interested in donating more info on the fund.

They're the small conference Wisconsin in terms of style, size, physicality. They made the Dance in 2010 and put a serious scare into Wisconsin, losing by 4. They made the Dance again in 2011 losing to BYU.

You've been warned, Buff fans. This isn't Ft. Lewis.

    1) Buff Madness - will be there and working on rounding up others for the event
    2) Basketball Excellence Fund - Have contributed to Buff Club in the past but not this fund. Will make a donation this year.
    3) Home Opener - will be there with my 6 seats once the ticket office calls me back and sells me 2 more. I also will be doing a sponsorship for that game and will have another 10 tickets to give away.
    4) Season tickets - adding 2 per above for men's hoops plus will be buying 2 women's tickets this year for the first time for $100
Let me know when you add more and I will try to get those done as well.

    1) Definitely going to #BuffsMadness, probably with 5-10 others.
    2) Will, of course, be at the Wofford game. It's a Friday, leave early, yo.
    3) Season ticket holder for MBB, and will go to at least two women's games this year.
    4) What extra cash I have usually goes to the CUAD; with the Basketball Excellence Fund available, it'll now be earmarked.

I am a donor already and I like the concept of channeling my money to men's basketball, but I am skeptical that this will work out in the end. What is to stop the administration from allocating less to Tad and Co since they have a pool of earmarked money from donors. I am an old accountant who has watched organizations behave in this way in the past. ... Note to say don't donate here, just be aware of the way that the world works.

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe Tad has it in his agreement that the money from that fund (fully tax deductible for donors, btw) is his and his alone. He has AD oversight for approving spending from the account for compliance reasons, but it's earmarked for Tad's program.

That may be the case, especially regarding the oversight on how it is spent ... no family vacations on the donor dime :). But to some degree or another, the Administration would fund what he deems necessary for the program in the ordinary course of business. But if he has a big money pot, then they can cut back on what they would otherwise do and divert the funds to other athletic programs or causes. Logically then, to the extent that that this happens, the earmarked donation funds stuff other than basketball. I am not saying don't earmark your donation ... just understand how institutional budgets work. It is a nice feel good way to donate and good marketing ... but there is more to it than that.

This happened to my High School Baseball team. We got all kinds of corporate sponsors, and sure enough after that our funding from the school went to next to nothing ($500/year), making the corporate sponsors not a nice to have, but a requirement.

But with that said, all my money is going to the basketball fund. Because sooner or later, this is where everyone will be sending all their money, to support a winner. I know Maryland has the same kind of fund for basketball, and I believe they get probably $2 for every $1 given to any other program.

Love the 4 Points! I will be flying in from Chicago to attend Buffs Madness and the other on-campus weekend athletic events. I have donated in the past, recently and will again in the future to the Basketball Fund. I am thinking about flying back again in February for a couple of games, or to Las Vegas to support the team at the Pac-12 Tournament. I have seen them on the road before (at Northwestern) and would definitely travel again if they make it to the Midwest. I've also worked with our alumni group here in Chicago to have watch parties for basketball games, and not just football games, at our sponsored bar. I also promise to buy at least 2 basketball related items from the Campus Bookstore or on The Hill, when I visit in 3 weeks.

I plan on going to the UM-KC and Illinois games as I can drive to them. I'm flying to Colorado for the Omni Classic and it looks like I will get to take in the men's game on Sunday. I will also be flying out for the Cal/Stanford weekend. Love my Buffs. Have since 1974.
