Those of you penciling in TT and KjSU as wins are WAY ahead of your selves.

KjSU ran at will v. fUCLA, yes I know Ellen isn't know for running the ball or any kind of D, but still, Gramps is light years ahead of our staff...and it shows.

TT is running more of a traditional spread, no more screen happy fat men rolling into the flat, but now they play a pretty solid D under Tubby, they are going to be good.

The Nubs found a QB it looks like.

Kansas...what the ....N. Dakota St.?...3 friggin' points? If CU doesn't get a road W there, Hawk should be fired on the spot.

    MU played well against Illinois.

Actually penciling in any wins is getting way ahead of yourself.

I like our chances against running teams. CSU really, REALLY wanted to run the ball, and couldn't. I'm more concerned about playing passing teams. Not so much because I don't trust our CBs and Safeties, but because our front four doesn't generate much of a pass rush on it's own. Give any quarterback a little time, and he'll shred you. We're going to have to mix up our blitzes and disguise our coverages a lot better when we are playing against a team that knows how to throw the ball.

Coming out of week 1, it's not CU's defense I worry about.
Sure getting more of a rush from the DL/DE is a potential weakness. But over all, I'm expecting CU's defense to be in the top half of the B12 statistically.

Keeping CU's offense on the field is the best defense of all. It's the Buff's anemic offense that is bigger worry.

I'd like to believe CU's offense is capable of scoring more than 24 points against defenses that are stronger than CSU's. We just haven't seen that. Basically everyone in the north except Kansas had a better day offensively.

But it's been since the Miami of Ohio game in 2007 since I've seen the Buffs offense absolutely dominate for four quarters.

Twenty-four points or less is not going to be enough to get to a bowl game.

I'm a long way from penciling in wins.

Honestly, it's hard for me to look beyond Cal. That's weird for me as a fan, but I've just got no read on this team.

Completely agree, Cal will tell us a little bit more about the Buffs, but since it's on the road....

My only point is that some of CU's future opponents looked pretty good, even some of whom pre-season prognosticators on this board had figured were sure fire wins.

I didn't see any of the games you mentioned with the exception of TT/SMU. Tech is improved and will be a difficult game. Our best hope is that Potts has a schizophrenic game against us. You never know what you are getting from him. One minute he looks great and the next he's throwing terrible balls.

Pretty hard to make realistic assessments of any team after week 1....crap I'd bet 70% of the top 25 doesn't remain top 25 by years end every season

And some looked worse. Kansas looks like a road win, something a lot of fans had no confidence in a week ago.

Oklahoma looked awful. It looks like we've got a fighting chance in that one and I had totally written that off before the season started.

This week will tell us a lot more:

Hawaii plays at Army. Are they as dangerous as they looked against USC?
Georgia plays at South Carolina. How do the Dawgs show on the road against good competition?
Missouri hosts McNeese State. This one's just a matter of staying healthy. We'll learn nothing.
Baylor hosts Buffalo. Buffalo looked good last week. Decent early test for Baylor.
Texas Tech play at New Mexico. After struggling to hold off SMU, will TTU blow out New Mexico like they should?
Oklahoma hosts Florida State. Was the Utah State game an aberration or an indication?
Kansas hosts Georgia Tech. Usually there's a lot of improvement between games 1 and 2. There had better be.
Iowa State at Iowa. Nice opening win versus Northern Illinois. How does ISU look playing big boy football on the road?
Kansas State hosts Missouri State. (see Missouri notes)
Nebraska hosts Idaho. Huge step up in competition from the Huskers' first game against Western Kentucky. Still a patsy. We won't learn much.

I wasn't really all that impressed by Tech. SMU turned it over something like 4 times and still was in the game until the end.

At the end of the day, I don't think you can read too much into a week one performance by any team. OU is not that bad, USC is not that bad, Hawaii probably isn't that good, KSU isn't that good, and UCLA isn't that bad.
