AAU Schools

 We are kind of out there on our own

no kidding. be surprised with the influx of $$$ at DU that isn't something they are working on.

also, interesting that UC-Santa Cruz isn't a member since there's that thing "UC System" that's listed on the map. no Baylor or SMU either....I mean, BU is a good school on par with a CU or UW, not Northwestern or Duke as Texans and esp. BU people will have you believe....

edit: map not totally current, misses Ga Tech.

and ya know, i'd be careful using AAU as a total metric for judging "rank" or an ambiguously defined "academics"....notice that Notre Dame and Wake Forest are not members. Both are better schools than many AAU members....so, there's some other prevailing criterion or politics with the membership.

True. I believe that is because AAU membership favors research very heavily, which is why many private schools aren't in. Most research institutions are publically funded.

Baylor is kind of a weird case, the education is good, but I believe most of their research focus is through their med school, which I believe has a separate endowment that is nearly as big as the one for the regular university.

the interesting thing to me about that map is that 5 of the original big 8 are in, yet, only 2 from the current b12south are in.

gawd, i hate what has happened since we let those d-bag texans in.
